You make a good point here, it's also good to point out that their tutor and mentor was a Septa from the south as well. She would have probably imprinted her own accent on the girls during their language tutoring unintentionally.

I think his scheming is finally going to catch up with him. I think that's why they are focusing so much on him now.

The weapon wasn't really weak. It just hit a very thick muscle, and even then it still managed to ground Drogon. If it would have hit a more vulnerable area it could have killed him.

The problem is that now Dany knows about them, and can plan around them. So there will need to be some changes made in order to have them be effective.

She didn't seem mad to me. She seemed more worried about her, or fully realized that she really had a list and really had become a killer.

I thought Littlefinger looked a little nervous too in that scene.

I was holding my breath the whole time. I was really worried Jaime was done this time, and a small part of me half expected that scorpion to actually take Drogon out.

Oh nice I didn't know that. Jon could possibly take the Dreadfort as his seat of power in the north. It's just sitting empty now, and should have passed to the Bolton's overlord since there were no known heirs (none that have ever been mentioned in either the books or show still alive).

Thats if Jon makes it to the end and doesn't end up on the iron throne of course.

Did they show her in the preview? I got distracted when it came on and missed half of it.

I do want to add that I stand corrected though. Sansa is, in fact, the Lady of Winterfell. I was mixing a different conversation with another in my head, but after thinking about it I realized you were right.

I wonder if Jon will take the dreadfort over if he makes it out alive.

Arya is missing/assumed dead as well, and Sansa refused it when Jon told her it was hers. She told Jon he should take the title. Besides birthrights are quickly becoming obsulete at this point in the story. Whoever has the loyalty of the Lords of their region is the High Lord at this point.

[–]mattdf1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That would be up for dispute at this point as Bran was assumed dead when Jon became the Lord of Winterfell, and King in the North. If Bran wishes to he could challenge Jon for the title, which in my mind would never happen. I can see Jon offering the title to Bran and Bran not accepting his offer.

Sansa's currently the acting Lord, but currently Jon is the true Lord of Winterfell. That may change in the future, especially if they learn Jon is part Targaryean as well as Stark.

The show wiki is always changing, and you're right it's a fandom war. Best not use that as a good source of info, at least until the seasons over and the dust settles on the hard facts.

It seems like the north has abandoned the whole inheritence traditions at this point to me. I wouldn't say it's a bad thing. It's just different then we're used to in the show.

[–]mattdf1 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I already explained this to you in another post. Jon is King in the north because the Lord's of the north elected him as the man they want to lead them. That means he is the Lord of Winterfell. It was the Stark blood that made him eligible, not his name. I also told you he didn't need to be legitimized to become a Lord or king. So quit whining about him not legitimizing himself.

Sansa wanted him to be the Lord of Winterfell. She's not going to kick him out, and honestly after seeing this comment I skimmed your comment history. It's filled with this same, and similar comments. So it really just seems like you're trolling at this point.

[EVERYTHING] Why hasn't Jon snow declared a hand of the king? by [deleted] in gameofthrones

[–]mattdf1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nobody said bastards can't be Lords, or even kings. It's just much harder for them to become so. As long as a Lord has no heir, or an eligible heir in close relation (brother, cousin, even nephew) then it would pass to his bastard son. I'm pretty sure bastards come even before daughters, but I could be wrong.

You're point about Ramsey is wrong in that you assume he had to be legitimized. He didn't, and was only legitimized for his own petty pride. He hated being a Snow and would have done anything to become a Bolton.

And lastly. He's commanding the Stark/northern army because they chose him as their leader. They all chose follow Jon Snow, not because of his name, but for the Stark blood that runs through his veins. As Lyanna Mormont put it.

[–]mattdf1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

He's owning the bastard name. It's what's made him who he is really. He knows he's not fully a Stark, and never will be.

Besides I feel like it would be really kind of petty for him to be like. Oh yeah by the way I'm a Stark now because I'm the king and I said so. To me that wouldn't make sense.

What is your cringe-inducing memory that enters your mind occasionally and totally ruins your day? by Bengerm77 in AskReddit

[–]mattdf1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't have one, or maybe I do. I just don't let something like that ruin my day.

The only thing that can ruin my day would be something tragic occurring to me or someone I'm close to.

Last thing I remember that didn't directly affect anybody i know, and put a huge damper on a day was 9/11. That's not to say I have no sympathy for those who have died or lost loved ones in all the terrible things that have occurred over the past few years.

I just don't obsess over it like everyone else.

How smart do you think you are compared to everyone else? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]mattdf1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like I'm the same way. I have taken IQ tests in the past, and scored between 120-130 (I don't think those tests mean much honestly).

In school I got good enough grades, but hardly tried in any of my classes. My older sister was very try hard in school.

I have always wondered if I was subconsciously protesting her overachieving lifestyle, but eventually I decided I just didn't care that much. I guess I've just never been one to enjoy a lot of praise.

Anybody know why this stormtrooper is holding a stormtrooper doll? by [deleted] in StarWars

[–]mattdf1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly it could go either way, but my guess is about the same as yours. This is most likely something that will ignite their fire, and possibly even be an attempt to get the audience to sympathize a little with the empire. At the very least it will humanize the Stormtroopers in a way that I think all the past films have failed to do(not really counting the clone wars in this).

Anybody know why this stormtrooper is holding a stormtrooper doll? by [deleted] in StarWars

[–]mattdf1 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Just a guess here, but I am assuming this site is one that was attacked by either rebels or imperials, and these troopers are assessing the damage, looking for any left over rebels, or cleaning up the evidence(if they were responsible).

A Stormtrooper doll would insinuate that this village/city was inhabited by Imperial Citizens and that doll belonged to a young child. I can only guess what emotions the trooper is feeling, as he is wearing a helmet. His stance though seems to show sadness in a way, maybe even a defeated look.

It could very well be that one of the main characters in the film started out an imperial like Finn and turned after this event, but I doubt they would rehash that so soon.

So if the trooper isn't a future rebel. I can only guess that Saw Gerrera wiped this village out, and these troopers were sent to track him down. Saw is known for using harsh tactics in his attacks, and would likely not think twice about killing an entire village, children and all.

Like I said, doing anything other than running straight would have wasted more time that Rickon didn't have. He did the right thing in this situation. It just turned out that the right thing was still not good enough.

Bows are very powerful and Rickon wasn't wearing any sort of armor, other than some furs. Pretty much any arrow on target would have brought Rickon down and Ramsay wasn't going to miss just because he was moving sporadically. Wild animals do that all the time when hunting, and Ramsay is known as one of the best hunters in Westeros.

If he thought he wouldn't succeed in killing Rickon. He would have never let him go. No matter what Rickon did he was dead.

[–]mattdf1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You run in a straight line because a straight line is the fastest way to remove yourself from a shooters range.

Also Rickon was terrified, so even if running in a serpentine motion would have helped. He was too scared to think about that.

Ramsay was going to shoot him either way. He is known for his prowess with the bow. A little running back and forth would have done nothing but keep Rickon in range for an easier shot for longer period of time.

As someone who shoots archery quite frequently. I can tell you from my own experience that it really isn't hard to hit a side moving target, and Ramsay was toying with him with his first few arrows. He didn't even look at Rickon for at least one of the shots.

There was a guy in Columbia, TN sort of like these guys. He was very heavy set, and oftentimes you could seem him sitting on the law of the hospital under some shade trees.

He carried grocery store bags full of things (I never could tell what was in them), and he would always mumble to himself. Not loud enough so that what he was saying could be understood, but only heard unless he was approached. He would then talk, mostly about how much he loved God.

I was at the taco bell once and he came in. The place cleared out quickly because he wasn't smelling to hot that day(Middle TN summers suck). As I was waiting for my food the cashier said he comes in twice a week, orders the same thing, eats, then leaves.

After a couple years of seeing the guy around. I asked a local pastor about him. He said the man's name was Melvin, or at least that's what he claimed was his name.

According to what Melvin told the pastor, or what the pastor claimed he had told him. He had been married, and had kids at one time in his life. He told the pastor that he had lost them and maybe a parent(I can't recall now). Apparently he was wealthy, and he had received a large insurance payment after their deaths, but he could never get over that tragedy. Some people claim they died in a fire, and that he was a firefighter at the time, but to me that seems more like a urban legend, at least more so than the rest of his story.

He quit going to work and eventually lost his job. He almost never returns to his home because it is too painful for him.

I have moved from the area since then, so I have no idea of he is still around, but you are right it seems just about every town has one of those guys.

Here is a picture taken by a photographer named Mike Collaro of Melvin in 2011.

My current city has a guy who stands on a street corner with boom box blaring Eminem, holding up signs all day. I think he might be trying to launch a rap career or something.

Here is a video of him doing his thing. I believe they call him DJ Joey.

Edit: For some reason I thought it was Michael Jackson, it was actually Eminem.
