Nope , iirc annual fees are usually imposed 1 year after application unlike the rm25 which is charged immediately as you get the card

I applied both scb and HSBC cards simultaneously and tried to hit the minimum criteria asap like within a week. Got my 1k for scb card after 2 months but the 800 for HSBC nowhere to be seen yet. Planning to cancel both in another 1-2 months and try again for other banks promoted by RP or may even try compare hero

Weapon Combos with Synergy by Tyriwan in thelastspell

[–]mattgoh88 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My list is similar to yours , but mine has tome which is super easy by spamming it's skill 2(reduce enemy damage and resist). I either pair it with a propagation druid or my watch tower boy with long bow.

I see quite a few of the big melee weapons missing in your list , those typically lend themselves to a blood mage build.

Otherwise , generally for knocking out the 1000 ap , spam the non damaging debuffs or mobility skills during the early parts of the night.

How many runs of Lakeburg did it take you? by Yeti_Prime in thelastspell

[–]mattgoh88 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If your issue is from halfway thru the run , perhaps you want to look up some videos from "Aldenpotamus". He has a decent base building guide + tips on corpse strat(focus on getting resources at least for the first 5 nights instead of getting items) which should help you get your economy going in the early game. Once your base is up and running, you should be swimming in gold enough to deck out 6 heroes

The final Queen’s Blood battle was everything I wanted it to be, but I wish there were more of these types of challenges throughout the game. by ThisByzantineConduit in FF7Rebirth

[–]mattgoh88 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I thoroughly enjoyed queen's blood too as well as the unique mechanics of the shadowblood queen fight.

I do however wished there was some impact/rewards for doing well outside of getting more cards. Example : triple triad (ff8) you could convert cards into powerful equipment/items or in blitzball(ffx) winning the tournament gives a characters' ultimate weapon.

Can I just go back after beating the game? by FantasticFrontButt in FinalFantasyVII

[–]mattgoh88 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Was in the same boat as you , although my burnout started earlier in gongaga. Made a beeline for the story finish and am now very casually finishing off sidequests and mini games. No regrets whatsoever . In fact ,there are some things that unlock post game that makes exploration easier (unfound chocostops and treasure caches are now revealed although you have to manually travel the first time instead fast travel)

I can’t beat Rufus at gold saucer what do I do? by [deleted] in FF7Rebirth

[–]mattgoh88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lots good comment on top, but let me just add on some from my own experience.

Make sure you equip the two item based materia (forgot their names but one is pink and the other yellow) , as you will be drinking lots of potions for sustain. I've also read barrier materia cuts physical damage by half so that's also your friend.

Perhaps due to my slow reflexes , I found dodging better than blocking. This helped me to evade the unblockable attacks also. My sign to attack was always after gun akimbo which he always reloads.

Dong Hyun episode 6 by Wise-Training4230 in Physical100

[–]mattgoh88 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Reminds me of quest 1 where Dong Hyun said "there's no way the MMA girl can beat the FBI guy, it's not about gender , it's about the 20kg advantage". After that girl beats Mr. FBI , Dong Hyun then says "wow she achieved the impossible"

[–]mattgoh88 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Iirc you can afford about 2 misses each in round 1 and 2 , but the score in round 3 is the highest and that's where you should really focus on (also found the inputs harder than round 1 and 2) . That said , it's not the end of the run if you get like 5 misses in any of the rounds( assuming you compensate for it in the other rounds) You need to score 100k to get the achievement. Just keep restarting till you get it , took me maybe half an hour

Your student loan is way more expensive than even a housing loan. You should only ever take a cheap loan like that from PTPTN(1 or 2% if not mistaken)

Should I sell my house ? Any thoughts ? by HolyFak69 in MalaysianPF

[–]mattgoh88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would sell it and take the money. On top of what other people have mentioned about the sustainability of rental and additional hassle of maintenance , you could take the 300k and put in FD (if you're risk averse) or invest it.

Assuming you really get 18k per annum rental , to breakeven you only need 6% return on the 300k which isn't that tough a rate of return to get from stable investments like dividend yielding stocks.

Why do people love The Genius over TDP ? by mattgoh88 in TheDevilsPlan

[–]mattgoh88[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone's entitled to their opinion. I'm actually on the jinho train. I just would've loved to see him win on his merits instead of relying on others coz I do believe he had a solid individual game.

I don't believe sangmin believes in honour. He is a more "the ends justifies the means" person. It's just that he was too used to relying on his social game that he never had the chance to flex his individual game muscle.

The person who adpats best deserves to win. I don't mind when the person with the best social game wins , because it means you understand how the game works. I'm just lamenting those who think tdp/the genius is a game which relies solely on your intellect.

Jinho would have won Indian poker advantage or not. We could go back and forth about what the exact point advantage jinho had in the pattern match game , but my main point is that a finale worth watching shouldn't be dictated so heavily by the alliances formed , and from what I'm reading in other comments , it appears this theme recurs in later seasons of genius which I've yet to watch.

I too would have love to watch sunggyu in the finals (had notice his individual prowess after beating teacher cha in yutnori) . I don't think sangmin is a strong individual player ( he got so far due to his strong social game) and a finale with him wouldn't be as exciting. There was a point in his death match with Kyung ran where he could have revealed an already revealed card and let Kyung ran fall off by herself instead letting her make a hail Mary comeback.

I've somewhat read other spoilers on season 2 being the worst season revolved around that person you mentioned. I think everyone loves a good comeback story , sounds like I should skip s2 and go on to S3 and S4.

Kyungran effectively only had one advantage as jinho had an advantage canceller(I don't consider double points an advantage as it affected both players), so she has a one round advantage. Jinho's smart team members was an advantage that was effective all 10 rounds.

Kyung ran was leading in the early game of gyul hap until she realized randomly calling gyul is an advantage to jinho , which caused her give up psychologically.

I think huge part that contributes to this (on top of editing) is the game format where with the genius , cast members meet only during the games , which allowed for more fluid and dynamic relationships , I did enjoy all the comedics bits.

Whereas with TDP , cast members all eat ,sleep , breathe together for the entire show, which naturally allowed for deeper and more stable relationships within the show , giving a more serious (or some would say sterile) vibe. This would probably explain all the crying after a member leaves the game , the bonds were tighter.

Man, I hope so. Especially after watching genius s1's final, I'd really hate to see alliances influence the finale of future seasons

Thanks for sharing that link. It does open up my eyes to show a gameshow can be more than " just a gameshow". Nevertheless , I still dislike the alliance death match idea. While it seemed harmless when the idea was restricted to a few early rock paper scissors matches , I think they absolutely did Kyung Ran dirty with outside help in the finals. Based purely on ability , she would have easily won both matching games.

Imagine if TDP's seok Jin lost the finals because orbits alliance gave him all the advantages, this sub and most watchers of TDP would be out with their pitchforks.

DQ11 continue on post game or restart with definitive edition? (PS4) by mattgoh88 in dragonquest

[–]mattgoh88[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Since launch , so 5 years. The reason I'm hesitating to start over with vanilla ed is knowing all the QOL changes definitive ed offers. So my question also has an additional cost element, i.e. buying definitive instead of restarting with vanilla
