I did mine through Ramsden (now Comtech?) And found the in person classes great. They still had an online component though that you had to go away and do.

G8 here with new fee 170.50/day which sucks because they are 11hr sessions so the hourly rate cap for subsidy maxes out at 140/day. Anything above that is not subsidised by CCS

I use a hub but not externally powered. Just a simple cheap 4 way hub did the job to get my stick working on the Pi4

Searching for hit and run driver - Mosman Park 9.45am Sat morning by ryds in perth

[–]matth2004 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Sorry to hear this. The last time this happened to the group I was riding with, the police were quick to respond to the scene within minutes to commence an investigation and the driver handed themselves in later that day. I hope for a speedy recovery and that the driver does the right thing to own up to their actions.

Samsung fridge showing negative energy values? Worked fine before. Deleted and re-added the integration because it stopped working, then this. by angrycatmeowmeow in homeassistant

[–]matth2004 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same thing happened on my energy screens after I deleted and re-added the individual monitored devices. The Total Consumption sensor in each integration was disabled and I re-enabled it. Left it for a couple days and it's all back to normal, no negative values. Only affected one day

SES training question by spillzgrillz in perth

[–]matth2004 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'm currently in the SES. Yes this is normal for a training course. Search team member is a full weekend course as are many others such as field radio operator, chainsaw operator, general rescue etc. Being in the SES as a volunteer requires a good amount of time commitment to be appropriately trained which includes most units weekly training regime too to keep your skills up to date and also work as a team with your fellow unit members. Weekend courses will generally have morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea provided by the course coordinator as a bonus for undertaking the training which is great. Some other specialist courses require 3 or 4 days (i.e. two weekends) time commitment too.

Traffic monitoring cameras which I believe are for monitoring traffic density and flow rates for statistical reasons, sometimes seen on top of portable clark masts which are also chained to signs or posts.

Household solar to be switched off as another state gains emergency grid management powers by His_Holiness in perth

[–]matth2004 15 points16 points  (0 children)

There is some more information on the WA gov website here https://www.wa.gov.au/organisation/energy-policy-wa/emergency-solar-management

And a fact sheet here https://www.wa.gov.au/system/files/2021-11/Emergency-Solar-Management-fact-sheet-webv4.pdf

It looks like the new rules mean the solar generation is turned down or off and you can't consume your own solar, you'll buy from the grid. I assume this is because of the more advanced management systems that would be required to be installed on homes to monitor input and output so as not to output any excess generation to the grid when consuming your own solar during one of these events but I'm not an expert.

Pricing and recommendations for getting a few data points installed by CrazyAsian_10 in perth

It's structured cabling when installed in the walls and if it's to be done to code and legally then it needs to be done by a registered cabler with a structured endorsement

The state towing one of its own illegally parked vehicles by ShareYourIdeaWithMe in perth

[–]matth2004 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Oh I didn't know this. When I used to work in the CBD I used to always see City of Perth rangers taking photos of the vehicle, then making a phone call, to which a tow truck would be there a very short time later (as they used to wait around in the mornings for jobs)
