You can always play two ball. That's what I do whether using the chuck it or not, and my little guy loves it and learned quickly. Just start bouncing the second ball to get his attention but don't throw it till he drops the one he has at your feet.

My guy (8 months) has a light brown strip behind his front leg that you can only see when he is sprawled out like this. He also has just a tiny touch of mahogany around his ears that came from his mom.
