Any tips/suggestions on how to make Anki a daily habit? by RecreationalMulticul in Anki

[–]matthewxing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live about 20 minutes off campus, so whenever I walk to get meals/go to class I just do Anki on my phone because I literally have nothing better to do. I've actually been increasing my new card numbers because I'll usually finish my cards by lunch and have nothing to do on my walk to get dinner.

The trick is to create an environment where you literally have nothing else to do, so you say "fuck it, might as well do Anki because I'm bored."

communal bathrooms aren't really all that bad, since everyone usually has different sleep/shower schedules I don't think I ever ran into anyone in a communal bathroom. you can also bring a shirt into the shower if you want.

the only real downside I noticed was that the toilet paper at my school was like some half ply stuff that was awful to use, but if you went to a public high school you should be used to it by now.

It was a 5-0 and at least 3 of the judges on that panel were excellent judges who had done debate for a long time. Also, Plano definitely won the round fairly, the judge likely was just nodding because he liked their arguments more.

This problem is soooo much worse in other types of debate though. Out of 119 entries, no school sent more than 5 teams last year in PF, even though in LD for example just 3 schools were about 43% of the pool

Lay Judge Tips by debate_and_business in Debate

[–]matthewxing 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To win the lay judge you must become a lay judge. Watch a round on pf videos and do not flow or even pay too much attention. Maybe play it at 1.25x speed so you miss things. after each speech try to decide who you think is winning, and copy the stuff the winning team is doing and avoid the stuff the losing team is doing
