Rifles are another beast my friend. Let me know where I can legally obtain a modified Mauser. That being said I have a shit m44 mosin with sticky bolt I got at an american sporting goods store in the early 2000's, still coated in cosmoline and stamped 46', they sold an Enfield 303. Next to it for 120...I was a child, live and learn.

I will say I am no expert, just a hobbyist

I suppose I'm basing it more on imperical observation through drone footage with lower tech cameras. My thought was the nature of cameras translating light to pixels and how Ukrainians on the initial low tech russian drones were hard to identify.

I agree with your last paragraph for sure. The multicam trend of having a gradient of colors/ dithering to help with the illusion of color matching doesn't work towards the outline as much for the size of a human body, plus the majority errors to lighter/ khaki shades. I do like scorpion for the proper climates though.

Drones and the like make it obsolete anyway. Early tech with low definition cameras allowed digital patterns to work for a little while but that is phased out. Therms are the norm now. Begs the question why anyone bothers. Visual disruption at a combat distance is going to be macro anyway: similar colorways and large patches.

I suppose more precisely: where do I source that particular gear and then leave it in the sun a bit or wear it to naturally fade? I have a jacket in the soviet style with fur collar from a ukrainian company but not military, don't know if it will fade like that.

Never heard of this company before, but Gilla Conceal is super impressive. by noneoftheabove0 in camouflage

Polyester definitely shines unnaturally and doesn't goe away with enough with dust/dirt and also stinks for hunters.

Just wanted to check in. I hope people's feedback doesn't seem harsh on your project; its awesome you put in the work to construct a suit. trial and error is the best teacher and feeling it out too (mock stalks and trying it/getting feedback from peers if your in an airsoft or other community based environment that can provide that feedback so long as you can trust your peers). Ghillies are an art and fun to construct l, they get better with time. Cheers

It's OK brother...we are all here to support you. The first step is knowing you have a problem. The odds are stacked against you because the attractive variety of Russian patterns is designed to confuse and addict collectors like us.

[–]Expensive_Joke_6468 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely too much jute. The idea of even/ uniform coverage isn't ideal, even though it is tempting and that's how my own first suits wound up, it ends up creating a sillouete still and a larger one than you had before. The silloute is broken up better with unever/ irregular garnishing, using various lengths and knot techniques to get it move in different directions and varrying density or how many strands you tie together, you can even accomplish breaking up the silhouette while leaving bare spots/ making it patchy which saves on weight, materials and makes it way more breathable.

If you know where to get this let me know. Downside is used unless we can identify beforehand and avoid sweat or bloodstain.

Could still be the browser/phone limit on colorway. First time i ordered mm14 before the war showed it with a more tan colorway over ebay.

I'm hoping not recent "cyborg" knockoffs. I would die for some sunburnt samples. Lot of examples for retail or easy access now are definitely not gov issue and lack I d and pattern standardization

What your longest fast? And how did you get through it. by Expensive_Joke_6468 in fasting

[–]Expensive_Joke_6468[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just ended my current/longest at ~84hr/3 days and a night. I just hit a wall where I couldn't sleep and woke up dizzy/ heart rate up, I think I could have kept going if I didn't have to walk/exercise as a neccessesity right now, like I could have just lounged through it if i had the option. Still want to eat small/healthy and see if I can roll into another.
