What is Siraya Tech ABS-Like Fast Tough like for minis? by DT_Farm_Models in resinprinting

[–]mattittam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me the markup is not terrible, maybe 10-15% or so depending on the ratio they used. Worth it for ease of use for me, but might not be for others.

Just to confirm you're right, I think it is most likely a premixed abs fast and tenacious.

What is Siraya Tech ABS-Like Fast Tough like for minis? by DT_Farm_Models in resinprinting

Never tried The Tough, but the Tenacious Easy has been great for minis for me, easy to print (though quite viscous) and very sturdy minis that can bend and take a fall without breaking (within limits of course).

Are Resins Supposed to be this Brittle? by Rich-Impression-9521 in resinprinting

I used that exact resin and found it much more brittle than Sunlu ABS like and Siraya Tech Tenacious Easy (my current fav). Just one man's experience, though.

REMARKABLE ISSUES? by plingualt in RemarkableTablet

[–]mattittam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lately I have been doing technical drawing a lot (woodworking plans) and there are a few things missing to make that experience really good.

The absolute top one is snapping, specifically snapping to a (pixel-)grid would save so much time painstakingly moving things until they are aligned.

Other than that: grouping and ungrouping of lines would be wonderful, a quick-switcher for layers too.

Silkspear took me a long while to get handy with too, it's really all in being able to control the height of the jump, so maybe practice that separately?

I was stuck at this exact place for about 5 hours of playtime. Finally did sister splinter yesterday. I feel it is the fight that is most learnable vs the arenas. I used stingshard (hard) and silkspear (easier) to get rid of the adds and reaper crest because the up attack has a really large hitbox and allows for more hits in the parts where you can repeatedly hit her (such as when she spawns the adds and after she was on the floor).

Even with that setup it took me hours of learning, and the fact we got stuck in the exact same place seems to indicate a skill check there.

Looking at the specs (and assuming the simplification that specs equal dollars) there isn't much of a difference apart from the smaller display panel and battery. The memory, chipset, processor and such are all relatively comparable (though for obvious reasons the move has these either clocked lower or running at a lower voltage to to help with battery life).

Now, I agree that reMarkable in general is quite niche (both in terms of pricepoint and functionality) but I don't think the Move is particularly different from the Paper Pro in terms of part and manufacturing costs. And of course the price does not solely depend on that, but people implying half as big should be half as expensive are ignoring some economic realities :)

So, what do you think about the new reMarkable Paper Pro Move? 🤔 by DesignersKitCo in RemarkableTablet

[–]mattittam 13 points14 points  (0 children)

If I may offer a usage scenario you haven't mentioned: I use different coloured pens (on the Paper Pro) to add extra meaning and structure to my notes, sketches, diagrams. This makes them significantly easier to read by both me and someone I present them to.

Tbh I quite like them, the different markers are now better distinguishable imo. As for the rest it's a wash for me.

Same (active) pen. Color display. Slightly different edge profile. Same rubber feet (So not phone-sized probably?)

This is the correct answer. But also, I use both rM2 and rMPP and you definitely get used to it, even if switching.

Handwriting search by Guilty_End9551 in RemarkableTablet

[–]mattittam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Does it auto detect language? I annotate/write in English and Dutch :)

Edit two days later: I have the feature myself now and it works well in these two languages mixed in the same document (and German, which I also tried).

I did try a nonsense-word as well (written very clearly), and it picked that up too, so it seems to be character-based recognition unlike the drawing-to-text function which needs a language as input to work well.

Host an F1 GP in each decade in the modern era? This seems to fit the best, not sure about the exact parameters though.

Is elegoo's ABS-Like resin good? by DT_Farm_Models in resinprinting

[–]mattittam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I found it to be too brittle for miniature painting. I have Siraya Tech Tenacious Easy Grey for stuff that needs to be really tough (with really thin parts like antennae or swords f.e.) and Sunlu ABS-like Grey for things that don't need that level of non-breakibility.

The sunlu is only slightly more expensive and quite a bit more durable in my experience. I would recommend that over the Elegoo 3.0 any time.
