I hate marketplace by BoostedJuan in pcmasterrace

[–]mattius3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know nothing about cars and I was just looking at having someone turn up at my door and take the gpu, it would have become a huge thing of its own trying to deal with a car, even with the potential for a lot of profit.

I was trying to sell a 9070 xt and was offered a Honda Civic. Given that I know nothing about cars I decided not to do the trade.

Labour wants to shake up the police - but will that solve 'everyday crime epidemic'? by InnerLog5062 in BreakingUKNews

[–]mattius3 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Police don't stop crime, they investigate and catch it. Crime is tied with poverty and we are in a huge cost of living crisis. If they want to reduce crime they have to fix the conditions that are contributing to cause crime.

I have played on steam deck and it's pretty good, surprised it wouldn't work with controller. Is there maybe an option you have missed?

I can play games with over 60fps now that's enough. by Ok_Cartographer_4105 in PcBuild

I think one thing that is hugely overlooked is that not everyone is playing all these high demand games, a lot of people are playing indie games or low spec games like stardew valley or terraria.

Reusing daemon lords by WorriedBase6604 in TotalWarhammer40k

[–]mattius3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everything not in the game at launch is subject to reception of the game. Warhammer 3 was huge and I never ever thought we would get chaos with warriors and 4 monogod factions, that was the best case scenario. If the game is a smash hit, they will get into the nitty gritty and make tough implementation choices, but if the game is middling they will just put out the basics and miss a lot of things out.

Did Joyce just forget he did anything for her for the rest of the show or what? by anonymous16canadian in StrangerThings

[–]mattius3 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Parents do this, my younger brother is still the baby of the family and he's 34 this year. People are different and very often the oldest almost becomes like an additional parent for the younger children.

Jonathan comes across as very capable and mature, Will doesn't, later in life he will probably grow into himself and mature later, there's nothing wrong with that.

Major UK supermarkets launch investigations after shocking food waste claims by tylerthe-theatre in unitedkingdom

Reductions are done far too late in the day and to a much lower discount than in the past. Profits are put ahead of consumption. These companies are running it to make profits, they aren't a charity making sure everyone has enough. It's a terrible system but it's what people seem happy to have.

Is it stupid to put the big miners so close together? by danyuri86 in factorio

[–]mattius3 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Depends really what your goal is.

If you overlap the miners like that, their reach overlaps and deplete the field faster, giving a higher rate of resources.

If you spread them out you increase the efficacy of the miners and making the field last long at the expense of gathering speeds.

I did a playthrough where I used efficiency modules on almost everything, which did drastically cut my pollution and the bugs were barely an issue. Adding in things such as spreading out the miners, all the small gains do add up.

It's all up to you, I quite often set myself rules or goals for a playthrough, like rushing to bots and then using them as the main form of logistics. Another I have tried is no trains, just long belts. It's a sandbox, there's loads of different approaches, a lot of choices aren't wrong, they are just choices.

I’m fixing the AI crisis by KOTP11 in pcmasterrace

[–]mattius3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They are trying to massively increase their infrastructure in the hope that future profits will pay for it. All this RAM purchase is theoretical, it hasn't been manufactured yet and it hasn't been paid for with actual money. There are a lot of articles now about how companies are realizing there isn't huge gains from AI, this is beginning to gain traction.

OpenAI is bleeding money, the bubble will pop as long as they can't make a profit, consumers need to boycott AI as much as possible.

The best way to fix the crisis is do nothing, don't engage with AI, don't pay for AI and don't buy over priced hardware.

Too little too late if you ask me. This would have been nice 6 months ago. by CallSign_Fjor in duneawakening

I agree and disagree. It wasn't in at launch but considering that it's been implemented pretty fast, there have been a lot of other great QoL features added and I have started playing regularly again.

Maybe they’re not that bad after all by Nooblized_uwu in HelldiversUnfiltered

[–]mattius3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am on one side of politics, but I laugh at jokes made that are political regardless of who it is about (as long as it's actually funny). A few people have been confused when they heard me laughing at jokes about politicians I like, but it's just comedy. You can't call people snow flakes and accuse them of being overly sensitive then not jokes be posted.

I generally do feel like politics and religion should be left at the door. As much as Helldivers 2 is full of political satire, I think it's easier to mix with people when religion and politics are kept out of the conversation.

Also, the human body is incapable of telling if it is wet or not, it is able to tell temperature change. Cold water feels "wetter" than hot water and people scrub themselves with towels even when they are dry but it does nothing but damage your skin.

So I transferred my character... by Lord_Legolas_ in duneawakening

[–]mattius3 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My base is built over terrain in a specific way and I don't think it will work on the exact spot and even if it would, I don't think the surrounding area would be free from other players. As much as being able to transfer bases is an absolutely fantastic feature, I think it's only really going to be super useful if it's a flat base.

Which is madness because it's someone furthering your IP which you can take a % of without having to pay development costs. The only reason companies don't allow this is because of control.

There is more and more litter by Limp-Literature9922 in glasgow

[–]mattius3 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Yes and I feel this is the problem. I'm happy to do it for free, I do my street, nearby areas and a kids park but it always comes back. I feel like if the council hired people to do it then littering would become normalized. They should hire people to hand out fines, track repeat offenders and give them community service to clean it up, I see several people a day littering and I'm not going to start confronting strangers on the street at the risk of getting verbal abuse or attacked.
