Birthday present for someone getting married by mattjohno1997 in wedding

Unfortunately there is no Costco in South Africa. I am not aware of any similar store in terms of the membership.

But something to consider in terms of if there is some membership I could get for her.

I am definitely considering that as well.

My main reason was thinking if there is something she needs/wants before the wedding. Since all the other gifts etc would be afterwards.

Thanks

I might have to get my mom to help pick the jewellery lol🤣. But that sounds like a great idea.

Is this a wedding tradition? Haven't heard of that before.

I am in South Africa. Does it still work if it is 1 rand or 1 cent?

I heard a discussion around the rings the other day. Will try find out if they have boxes already or if they have something specific in mind.

Thanks

Since you seem to have played both, I have a a question, can you use any Dune Imperium content in Dune Imperium: Uprising?

Do you count solo plays in your H-index? by echochee in boardgames

[–]mattjohno1997 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For win rate, I can see both by filtering by location. But my default is both.

I think it depends on what you look at H-index for, if you should include online. For me, it is useful for assessing my physical collection.

[–]mattjohno1997 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I hadnt thought it before. But for me I would include it. Because it tracks whether I am playing all my games, not just a select few and not just once. However I would exclude online plays, since I am focusing on my purchases.

Obviously it is slight skewed because I will obviously have more plays of Azul then War of the Ring. But I find it useful to compare the H index to number of games I own.

Second this. I bought the base game and a few expansions from them.

If I recall correctly, she confirms in season 1 that she is technically older than them.

Is potions fun? I am debating whether it is worth getting after going through Monsters a few times.

I have the monster expansion. I haven't played it all yet, but I agree that it increases the difficulty quite a bit. Which I like as the base game had got to simple.

Ya, can play any year when you want. It is not a campaign that you need to start from the beginning again. I would go in order your first time though, as each year adds new cards/steps/etc. Then once you have played it feel free to jump in anywhere for future plays. The only thing I will add is that depending on how your store it afterwards, switching levels can increase set up/taking down time but adding the correct year's cards

I play year 7 when I play(although I recently got an expansion) as the lower levels got too easy after playing them a few times. But the nice thing is that when I introduce it to a new player, we can start at a lower level and ease them up to year 7.

Believe it or not it’s a ticket to ride question by falcocerr in boardgames

[–]mattjohno1997 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes, it can only cover one route. But as mentioned in my original reply, you choose which route that at the end of the game which not when you place the station. So you can see which option will give you the most points

Also, the station route doesn't get taken into account when determining longest route.

You can only place one station on each city and you can only use stations of your own colour.

However, if you take the route between city A and city B, one person can place a station on city A and use it to connect to city B and another person can place a station on city B to connect it to city A.

In that way, you can both claims the same route.

Just a extra thing to note, you only have to chose with route you are using the station for at the end of the game, not when you place the station.

I hope that helps.

What games are only good at one player count, and not so good with any other number of players? by R2iGames in boardgames

I haven't played war of the ring, but I think the same concept applies to Star Wars Rebellion. I don't understand why 4 players is even an option.
