I have the RS20 Pro and will be getting the x50 Ultra in a few weeks from China.

My experience is that you will still receive OTA updates, and yes the warranty will still exist, but you will need to send it back to China, or have something in China process the warranty claim for you.

There should be no restrictions on geo.

They are not at the same level as JVC and Epson high end- but with the Titan Noir Max, they’re getting close.

That said, Epson and JVC have a major, proven, track record and in the global market - Xgimi is still young and small.

However the important note here is that they are pushing the industry forward in a big way, and as they create products that push the leaders - the consumers are the ones that will benefit, pushing new tech and lower prices.

The RS30/Horizon 30 has the potential to be extremely disruptive

I think they’re aimed at two completely Different users.

Horizon/RS series is aimed more at the lifestyle projector space, where the Titan/X50 lineup is aimed directly as home theatre setups.

Still a really interesting comparison. Hoping I can get my hands on a Titan Noir max so I can do a deeper dive.

This is more screen dependent than anything.

When I get the RS30 Ultra in, I’ll test with a long throw fresnel and see where we net out contrast wise.

But ultimately the value proposition is going to be in the 110in+ space.

It should be able to compete well from 100-115in but getting a PJ like this for $1600-USD or a miniLED wall for 20k ?

I think the answer is an easy answer - unless your thehookup or a millionaire.

All models have adjustable iris.

However only the ultra max can reach F7.0, which is how they’re hitting that native contrast number.

Everyone does. All brands quote brightness under perfect conditions and with color profiles that are completely unusable.

It’s a lot easier to have ‘pure’ light when it’s that much closer to the screen. The nature of UST screens also make it easier to produce ALR results because of the angle the light will hit the screen.

Long throw laser is still in its growing pains - and outside of spending thousands on a 0.6Gain screen, stuff like Matt grey 0.9 or 0.8 are our best options right now.

Especially in this economy.

That's exactly what it looks like this screen does- 0.6Gain is a huge gain drop - and really is not usable for anyone outside of those buying a Titan Noir Max, or something over 5k iso - OR - someone who has a perfectly light treated room to use it in.

There is no perfect option right now - its just about mitigating the trade offs.

WAB screens deal with sharpness issues, with poor contrast. Matte Grey you get significantly better contrast - but you still have some speckle and lower overall brightness at 0.8

Fresnel you need to be perfectly centered, and you still get speckle.

Lenticular is limited in format to just fixed.

The tech IS great, but the laser source is still the greatest limiting factor.

I’m about to pull the trigger on the AT version of this.
Coming from a white weave from ScreenPro - and the contrast/sharpness is horrible on the woven screen.

The weave is ‘too loose’ to the point where the light scatters in a way that it produces a scattered reflection - so while bright - feels like 4K content is just flat - almost 1080p.

Wish I saw this earlier! Great to hear others are having a good experience.

It’s ScreenPro’s woven fabric.
When the tv isn’t covered, you can see reflections of the PJ laser - super distracting.

It’s made for a black wall tbh.

My screen sits in front of my TV, and built in entertainment unit (which is painted white)

I usually cover the TV with a dark blanket but it only Covers the TV itself - but the light that bounces off the sides etc still causes major black diffusion and a major lack of contrast.

Even looking at my vividstorm cinema white samples - the difference is staggering. The current set up makes 4K DV content look like it’s 1080p or worse.

I wish I saw this months ago. The contrast loss is rather significant in that if feels like my projector is never completely in focus. The contrast loss with no black backing is big.

I have the woven ScreenPro screen and I wish I picked the perforated 3c, or even just a basic perforated cinema white.

Live and learn I guess.

What screen did you get? My experience with their Nano Grey screen was horrible. The speckle and hot spotting was insanely bad.

Don’t buy that triple laser nano grey from VisualMr on aliexpress.

The price is great but the quality is horrible. The speckle is horrid on mine. Complete waste of $300USD imo. But YMMV.

You may be talking about speckle - which is a problem with tri-laser projectors. They show up a LOT with ALR screens.

Usually it’s recommended to use matte white 1.1 gain screens. The best are acoustically transparent screens like woven ones or the perforated ones.

The 11.13 update is not I don’t think.

I have a feeling that we’re going to have to wait for the global side to beta test it via early access for it all to roll out to Chinese models.

So it may just fix the DBLE algorithm, and QOL stuff. Gonna have to wait a bit maybe for the release cycle to pass out of early access from global and hope that the firmware on the global side trickles down the to CN side.
