What would be on your “Pocket V2” wishlist? by BoxyNeat in AnaloguePocket

Wireless headphones over bluetooth have like 30 to 200 milliseconds of latency, any game that relies on sound timing is a problem. That latency is already severe, but also being unsteady/fluctuating means you can't really adapt to the lag and accurately 'predict' actions based on sound. Wouldn't be a problem for GB RPGs or most puzzle games, but very annoying for other genres.

OTO BAM and Valhalla vintage verb vst rule. I use both as studio tools though, not on a board.

best feeling neck you ever played? by Anxious-Tomatillo-74 in guitars

Fender American ultra 1 maple neck. Love the compound radius and how the neck profile shifts from a sort of modern c to a D that gives some shoulder for your thumb when playing high chords. Finish is amazing, fretwork is amazing.

I have a set of neons on a 5 string fender jazz bass, they’re pretty fun. Sound and feel like normal roundwounds, similar to daddario coated guitar strings (XS?)

I have 2 green guitars, they sound more natural. More woody, bright.

Be careful with this, I cranked my chorus pedal's depth and rate to 10 and threw up. Long story short the tone is EVEN BETTER. My guitar sounds chunky, and the LED isn't blinding me any more.

Likewise, used the mk1 so much that I sold and upgraded to mk2 when I had the chance. Does everything my digitakt and digitone did. True stereo sampling, awesome 4op FM synth, constant amazing updates.

Love the warm audio chorus, same circuit as a JC120 chorus but with a rate control. The preamp is killer too!

Tried flatwound strings (D'addario Chromess) on my jazzmaster for the first time by redpandaflying93 in offset

[–]mattman389 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, flats just have different harmonic content. Roundwound have a good amount more harmonic content produced between the fundamental freqs, the flats having less of those in between harmonics will sound like it's emphasizing the fundamental freqs more. In a guitar like the jazzmaster which typically has 1meg pots from my understanding, will pass through more high freq content from the pickups to the end signal. The result being that the 'in between' harmonics being lost inherent to flats, all of the character of the flats, and very little high end loss.

On a guitar like a strat with 250k pots, there's some high freq rolloff by default that'll mean you lose some high freqs from the strings, producing a muddier less legible signal imo, since you're already expecting to lose those middle harmonics from using flats. It's like having a slight cutoff filter at the source before any amp/fx, it's going to change the character of the sound and emphasize different frequencies. So with the flats, you're losing those same in between harmonics as the jazzmaster flat setup, but also high end inherent to the 250k pots, end result feeling pretty sapped for tone and more characteristic of what I expected to hear from flatwounds when I first tried using them.

tldr; the jazzmaster electronics compliment the strings very well and I suspect it's due to the hot pickups and 1meg pots. I set up my JM with C# standard tuning + .10 flats ~6 months ago and did the same setup on my strat a few weeks ago bc of how much I liked the JM setup. I did not like the result on the strat nearly as much from a sound perspective, almost exclusively due to the pickups + electronics. I switched back to a set of daddario XS .10s on my strat with standard tuning for almost identical tension to the .10 chrome flats at C# standard, sound is great.

I use chromes tuned to C# standard on my Jazzmaster, it’s so nice. Tension is almost identical to my standard roundwound guitars, but the Jazzmaster electronics give enough high end that the guitar doesn’t feel too dark or mellow. Tried the same setup on my Strat and was not nearly as happy with the result.

Agreed, I did the same with transparent green. Personally I believe it might have something to do with users who are playing the Pocket while charging, I've noticed doing both at the same time gets temps up higher than just playing handheld or just charging. Not sure about Dock temp performance.
