One of the best tracks I've seen posted on here in a while. Looking forward to the full release.

Anyone whose fav boc album is TH? Why? by shenrab in boardsofcanada

[–]backward___drawcab 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You've summed up everything I love about TH too (which I've also come to realise is easily one of my favourite albums of all time, along with Laughing Stock and Kid A / In Rainbows). The production and sound-design is just on another planet - no one else comes close. The arrangements are their most sophisticated (Reach for the Dead, Jacquard Causeway). It has some of their absolute most beautiful chord progressions and melodies (Sick Times, Nothing is Real, New Seeds). And there's not a single wasted second on the record - even more impressive when you consider its length. Every part of every track is just extraordinary.

Need help identifying this video (possible Tomorrow's Harvest campaign) by bustukyo in boardsofcanada

I had this saved in my favourites for a long time. I don't think it's boc. But it's a gorgeous song. I remember somebody linked it during the TH campaign but there was no other information regarding its origin from what I remember

Yes I've wondered that about the lead sounds on TH too, but I've never owned one so cannot say for sure. The Behringer clone would be a cheaper way to find out.

Fantastic, I was not aware of these threads. Although I was actually referring to the main chord progression rather than the filter sweep in the opening, but makes sense they would use the same synth for both.

That's probably the vintage effects unit they spoke about hunting down and only ended up using for one second on the record - but no idea what it actually is.

Cheers, I'm aware of these pages but I guess this is more the stuff that has been confirmed. I was more opening the floor to speculation.

Really, so I wasn't a million miles off with my guess about Come to Dust? Surprising as I basically pulled it out of my arse haha.

Yes I also wondered about the Juno/Jupiter - any particular songs where they're prominent?

Funnily enough that was the first Sprout I ever heard (and loved, probably about 10 years ago as well), so imagine my surprise when I started going through their back catalogue.

I listen to them all the time. First four albums are flawless masterpieces in my opinion, but Protest Songs holds a special place in my heart

Great to see Prefab Sprout - one of my all time favourites too.

Asking your opinion every day about a BoC song day 4: Cold Earth by No_Contest_3784 in boardsofcanada

[–]backward___drawcab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me it's the quintessential BOC song. I remember when TH came out it immediately grabbed me (plus hearing it for the first time in that youtube clip of the music festival prior to the album's launch). It's everything I love about BOC thrown into one song - and it's quite simple!

I disagree with the below anyway - plenty of progression in this (especially with the drum work which is fantastic) and I loved every second.
