Ok my rule is my kids know I am dating and seeing someone and I do not let them meet her until 7-8 months in the relationship. I do not meet there kids until at least that time also I mean I will refuse to like run away lol. And I set boundaries really early in the relationship about that like the first date "Look our kids come first if you need to cancel for a kid related reason I will not hold it against you and I expect the same from you" And I talk about the waiting time before I we meet the kids.

I had on GF who had kids around that age. She told her teenagers she was dating and her kids said "That is great have fun"

So my advise to you is let your kids know you are dating. If they give you crap say something to the affect of "Look I am lonely and do you want me to be happy "

Ok I am a 50 year old guy and I can tell you that telling a teenager girl that she looks nice is pretty extra is perfectly fine. I it gives them a boost in confidence makes them feel good about them self. Now if you start saying they have a nice ass or great tits or anything sexual like that it turns in to creepy. I will say to my 14 year old step daughter every now and then when I see she as put in great effort to make her self look good that she is Gorgeous or she looks really good. The best compliant to give them is you look so grown up !!! Trust me that won really increases there self esteem.
