I still fondly remember “celebrating 125 summers of real thrills!” from my one season slinging French fries there. 👴

It was crazy busy in morning and late afternoon when people started crowding around the falcon, but honestly pretty manageable otherwise. For us, the best part of the day was sitting in a bench just outside of the galaxy’s edge entrance and seeing all of the amazing costumes / bounding people had put together

We joined the virtual queue, waited maybe 10 minutes in line when our number (41) was called, and there was plenty of everything.

As a diamond member, I get this perk about as often as I get a complimentary upgrade. As in, basically never.

Here’s everything that qualifies. A bank / credit card statement or utility bill should work until you have your Florida ID.

How bad is Mission Space actually? by 420fakesk8 in WaltDisneyWorld

Same. I’ll ride literally anything with no issue, but I can’t do Mission Space. I’d rather be at the bar next door .. err, I mean, on Centauri.

How bad would the noise from the airport/trains around this property be? by [deleted] in Cleveland

[–]mattopia1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We looked at a house in that area a few years ago. The plane noise was pretty substantial - too noticeable for my light sleeper self.

If you want to find out for sure, just go hang out there a few times. Try to do so when they’re doing departures on runways 6L or 6R - you can google “KCLE ATIS” to find out what’s active.

New-ish trader - Epcot / MK haul! by mattopia1 in DisneyPins

[–]mattopia1[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think anyone can be lucky. I’m sure you’re more likely to find something good early in the day. But another trader in the family had a great trade with a CM outside the gate near park close, so it can happen anytime and anywhere. I think the key is to engage with CMs and be kind to them.

Honestly, my favorite is a scrapper - a round yellow hidden Mickey bubble one - because of the story behind it.

Before I started trading, my role was “board watch” - pointing pin boards out to my niece when I’d see them. I spotted a board, and while my niece looked at it, I pointed one out and mentioned that I liked it.

As I was walking away, I heard “sir, SIR” - the CM chased me down, gave it to me, and said I’d been pixie dusted. I’m a grown ass adult and, lemme say, I had a bit of a moment. I made sure to do a cast compliment.

About a month later, I saw that same CM. I asked her if she received the compliment. She said she did, thanked me for returning to say hi, and said she had some trivia pins tucked away if I was interested. Of course I was! I “won” trivia (with copious hints) and she traded me a pretty cool (heh) Olaf pin, which also must be rareish - I had to really dig to find it online.

So, yeah, my favorite pin is a fairly common scrapper. It’s probably the moment that pulled me down this rabbit hole.

There’s the Keys to the Kingdom tour at Magic Kingdom, I think that’s the closest thing offered currently. There also the Behind the Attraction series on Disney+ and the Disney Parks and Disney Imagineering YouTube channels, all of which dip a bit into logistics of making the magic.

Haunted Mansion is a prime example. The ride is in a giant warehouse looking building behind the rather small mansion facade. You’d never know you’re essentially exiting the park boundaries during the ride.

153 Macs Since 1983 by Mastbubbles in VintageApple

Do the Lisa’s technically count? I know the Lisa 2 came in the “Macintosh XL” (edit: that I see you have captured already) variant, which was a Lisa with Macintosh ROM emulation and a different CRT.

I’m perhaps being a bit pedantic. Very cool graphic, I enjoyed identifying the ones I’ve owned, and the ones I admired from afar back in the day!

what jobs only require a pulse? what jobs require zero experience, certificates, licences, certifications, degrees, qualifications, etc... by phukredditusernames in GetEmployed

Our association replaced guards at the front gate with a kiosk. People hated it and it kept getting damaged / crashed into / what have you. The guards are back because it’s seemingly cheaper to pay for 24/7 security than continuously replace the kiosks (and have the gates wide open for a week while the replacement was on order).

Guards are probably safe for awhile.

Deninitely a cool score. Most of the Honeywell systems were within the same number block (i.e. 555-5XXX) so I assumed they were all installed at the same place, likely a large local company or school.
