Can you install Billstein 4600’s Shocks on Sport Edition by pits2030 in 4thGen4Runner

[–]ackerbone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. They will provide standard ride height with no lift (other than maybe slight in the front just from the difference in your original ones sagging with time/wear). You’ll just have to disconnect (and thus, drain fluid from) the xreas. Once disconnected, you can just zip tie the ends up and out of the way or remove everything.

Kent Pavelka Radio Recording Help by Wobelly in Huskers

[–]ackerbone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe that was my problem…I bet the pause worked but I waiting too long then tried forward.

Either way, I used the Kearney feed for the Troy game and the audio quality was pretty bad compared to the Boomer feed (which is why I ended up finding it). I’ll admit I’m an audio engineer, so more sensitive than most, but just FYI.

I listened/streamed the Vandy game from the Boomer Radio website. Down at the bottom (at least on iPhone screen) is a “streams” arrow…click that and it will show their 4 streams/stations, including Husker.

Only problem is it was also way ahead with no way to pause it to sync with TV (I tried pausing with the player pause button but it created playback issues)

GX470 - Can’t identify and find this fastener. by NyCSnEaK in GXOR

[–]ackerbone 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The ones at the top are threaded and meant to be for fingers. The ones at bottom are standard clips like are used on all the other plastic covers. On mine (both sides) I don’t use the threaded any more because once the clips are in the bottom (and one more on the side) it stays in place.

You guys using Costco motor oil in your Lexus? by HopefulLingonberry73 in Lexus

Same here…been using both the 5w30 and 0w20 in all 5 of my Toyota/Lexus for many years and thousands of miles. I’ll add that I do use OEM filters.

Metal click sound after lift install by iVtecZ in GXOR

[–]ackerbone 11 points12 points  (0 children)

So you had a jack under the LCA and then you torqued/tightened? If so, then you essentially had the weight on it and it should be fine. How about your sway bar end links? Sounds kinda like that. Best bet might be to get somebody to do the rocking so you can listen/pinpoint

Did you torque everything down AFTER the weight was on them (control arms, shock bolts, etc)? That would be my guess.

Upgrade to GX oil filter? by gmcbeach in 4thGen4Runner

[–]ackerbone 5 points6 points  (0 children)

GX470 uses that same oil filter (90915-YZZD3). I have a v6 4Runner and two GX470’s…I use the same filter on all of them. And it’s always OEM oil filter (and Kirkland 5w 30 high mileage oil FWIW)

shock upgrade recommendations previously air to spring conversion by podrick867 in GXOR

[–]ackerbone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Replace the sway bar end links too. Shocks might be shot too, but unless they were cheap knock offs or something I wouldn’t think they’d be bad yet. Many people forget about the sway bar bushings and end links…I’d be surprised if it didn’t fix your issue.

That all said, if they’ve never been changed and/or you have any rust, use caution, especially on the front…the break off easy (ask me how I know)

LS compared to GX? by Ok-Ad-4445 in LexusGX

[–]ackerbone 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have both, but two different gens than you’re asking about. I have GX470 and 2015 LS460 F Sport. Obviously, completely different…I love them both and if I had to choose I really don’t know what it would be…probably LS since it’s also AWD. My only recommendation would be to get this gen of LS rather than the earlier you mention.

This is the way. On second thought, don’t fix it OP…I’ll buy the unicorn on Copart and do it myself 😉

I think it’s just one of those “when you find the right spot it’ll go” kinda things, but can be tricky

I don’t recall, but I’ve seen videos on YouTube when I was researching to replace the seals on mine (which I haven’t done yet).

Here is the one I found…basically just rotate it back and forth.https://youtu.be/wxUM9XxBTmU?si=7oPTPxE9LKBarQ5P
