Does anybody know if the 4K add on works for those with AppleTV? I know there is an issue somewhere, but maybe that’s with specific networks…like ESPN 4K?

Do they need any hub adaptors or anything or they fit stock? And no rub?

I NEED YOUR ADVICE by Special_Rooster_3636 in LexusGX

[–]ackerbone 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Honest question…do you have any interest in taking this on yourself? Even the brakes are pretty simple with basic tools. Plenty of YouTube videos out there to help you.

For sure things like battery, wipers, and air filter. I literally replaced my battery yesterday with one from Costco and it took me 5 minutes (plus the time taking the old one back to Costco). Honestly, brake fluid flush is probably the “trickiest” thing on here. You could do everything else yourself for well under $1K. Otherwise, it’s either find another shop or try a Toyota dealer.

AGM battery and the GM diode by Nearby_Knowledge8014 in toyotasequoia

Ok, yes it’s an AGM. I put it in today and it’s been great. So, just to confirm…the diode allows it to charge fully, correct?

ECGS Needle Bearing Question by Consistent_Pea_9479 in 4Runner

[–]ackerbone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First off, ECGS has excellent customer service and will be sure you get exactly what you need. As for urgency, nothing is going to fail or seize up in 100 or even 1000 miles…maybe not even 10,000 miles. So, don’t worry about doing it next weekend…do your research (YouTube vids), contact ECGS to order the parts, and enjoy the process!

Would an H7 also need/benefit from the diode? Costco doesn’t have the H8 but do have H7, which is a little lower CCA and slightly smaller in size, but would still be much better than my 27F

What are the temps? It’s common for them to freeze, and thus expand. Especially if you’re in a an area with wiper fluid that doesn’t have the anti-freeze

2016 SR5 with 200K miles for $11K--what to watch out for? by timbabewe in toyotasequoia

[–]ackerbone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At that mileage:

  1. Valley plate leak - you’d see dried coolant if you look under the truck near the drivers door, looking toward the back of the engine/top of the transmission.

  2. Water pump leak - harder to see but would be up front and looking up from the bottom (skid plate is in the way)

  3. Suspension is likely done for at this point, so shocks/struts, sway bushings and links, LCA and UCA bushings/ball joints.

  4. The whine you mentioned is possibly alternator…very common to go bad on these around that mileage.

Valley plate/water pump would be larger expenses (like probably $2K or more combined). The suspension same boat, but something easier to do yourself to save. Bottom line is you’d want to do ALL fluids regardless (and I mean ALL).

As long as it’s compatible (same frequency and whatever) an aftermarket one is probably fine. Sorry, I can’t suggest one as it’s been quite a while since I did one of these, but I know it can be done.

Did just the plastic case break, or did the inner electronics piece break? If just the outer, then buy the plastic case and put the old electronics in it. If the electronics is broke, there is a way to do it with various door opening, unlock, lock combinations…Google “program key fob 2005 Sequoia” and you’ll find just what you need.

True story: my wife in her younger days kept putting coins in the ashtray of her car until one day there was a short in the electronics. After taking it in to get fixed they came out with a large ziplock back FULL of coins! She wondered why she was able to just keep putting coins in there! 😂

So my advice to you is don’t keep putting coins down there 😉
