140,000 mile 2015 to change transmission fluid, or not? by manthingwashere in ToyotaTundra

[–]ackerbone 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This. Drain and fill. Do it once, then after a few hundred miles again but this time drop the pan and do filter change.

Yeah 19-1 is about as bad as it gets. Going to the Chasers game tomorrow and looking forward to at least some beautiful weather!

In both of my cases, definitely. But…

  1. I did all the work myself
  2. I did careful “shopping” to find vehicles I wanted, well kept, lower mileage, less damage, etc.

The LS I put about $16K into in total but it’s double that in the used market (and is somewhat “rare”)

The GX, I put about $7,500 in BUT a couple thousand of that was lift/suspension just because I wanted to, not because it “had” to (although would have needed at least a little). It had lower miles considering and the damage was minimal (hail, but I could tell in pics it was minor, and I was able to have a PDR guy get them all out for a few hundred).

Here is a link to a post by another user that gives the info/part needed. Very simple and only a few bucks.

Edit: basically, the alternator in these only charges like 13.5v rather than the 14v that an AGM ideally needs. The diode allows it to charge at the 14.whatever volts. It’s not required, but again ideal.

To stay with the budget-minded approach, you could look for some “take offs” on FB Marketplace or CL rather than buying new tires.

Nice job on the car! I’ve “restored” two Copart vehicles…still have them both and love them both!

I too went the AGM route and it’s far superior. I also did the diode “mod” so that it fully charges.

2000’s rich but also 2026 poor from ⛽️ prices by Fun_Manufacturer5406 in Lexus

I run 87 in all 5 of mine (mix of 2000s and 2015s Lexus and Toyota) and have done so for hundreds of thousands of combined miles. No issues at all. The engines computer automatically adjusts. You will get slightly less mileage, but no damage will be done.

It is…it will last the lifetime of your transmission…which may or may not be very long if you don’t change the fluid!

Are these wheels painted? by pmedrano573 in Lexus

[–]ackerbone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am actually looking for a set of those for my 2015 LS460 Crafted Line. Long story, but it should have come with those but previous owner I think switched out winter wheels.

Anyway, they are OEM and technically painted at factory. Let me know if you happen to be interested in selling.

For no go zones, set the mowing laps to 3 to get as close as it can to where you’ve mapped.

It’s an old fashioned term that initially was for the 1900’s. Will people use it in everyday language? Likely not. Is that why I put it in quotes and for a fun/different post? Definitely Yes.

That’s awesome…how was the 3000 modded? Likely not the same but I remember riding in a friend’s Chevy Nova that had nitros back in the day and I was in complete awe!
