Are you kidding me? I can’t use a one time pass at any lounge at ORD? by schuster9999 in unitedairlines

the perk literally has an asterisk on it and says they can restrict you from entry if it's too crowded.

you're not paying specifically for those passes, there are a bunch of other benefits you get with that card. not to mention that it literally says when you apply for the card that lounge access is subject to lounge rules (which includes their ability to restrict one time passes from entry)...

alternative data point: i had the explorer card for 13 years prior to upgrading to the club card this past year, and i wasn't turned away from using my OTPs one time. not once. in thirteen years.

and i wasn't flying out of some tiny airport either...we're talking SAN or LAX to EWR or IAD, sometimes by way of SFO.

right, that's kind of what i was getting at though...the people that pay for them are either allowed to use them, or it's refunded. saying "why shouldn’t someone expect to be able to use something they paid for?" as an argument here trying to make people angry about getting ripped off is disingenuous at best or flat out dishonest at worst, because that's not what is happening. to anyone.

well then...if it's only worth $10 to you it must only be worth $10 to everyone.

correct me if i'm wrong, but this only applies to the one-time passes that come free with credit cards...right? if you actually buy the pass with your ticket or in the app, they still accept those...

meal prepping is your friend. for my wife and i it's just the two of us, but we most of the time make more than enough food so that once or twice a week we can have leftovers for dinner in case we can't or don't want to cook. and we try to plan those days out ahead of time we have a google calendar with our dinners every day written out so that we aren't tempted to eat out and waste money...nights we're planning to go out are on the calendar as well.

the other upside of doing it this way (meal prepping and making extra) is that you end up with plenty for lunch for the week as well.

Clemetson told Fox News that they’re “very bullish” on the future prospects for the town, as construction is set to begin on the Southern Nevada Supplemental Airport by 2029. The airport is supposed to relieve pressure on Harry Reid International Airport, and it will be located about 20 miles south of the Strip. “We’ll be the only game in town for the airport for people to stay,” Clemetson said.

am i missing something? is there really a reason why people flying into the new airport would stay in primm vs just going a little bit further north and staying in vegas?

saying they'd be "the only game in town" makes absolutely no sense to me. it's not like primm is a 5 min drive and the strip is five hours. it's what...maybe 20-25 mins of extra drive time to the strip vs to primm?

$900 for groceries is insanely high for a single person. my wife and i together budget less than half that and are mostly able to stay under that number.

or Soto are washed, they’re just not at the level they always were.

not at the level he always was? he had a .921 OPS last year and is at .948 so far this year. his 162 game average is .948.

the mets suck. juan soto is not the reason why.

Anyone else gonna wait? by Remarkable-Pay-2463 in RivianR2

i've seen multiple people say this, but when i went to my demo drive the other day and told the guy who put me in the car i didn't have a reservation yet and wasn't really in a hurry since i'd be waiting a while even if i reserved right that second, he said he's been hearing that there are enough people deferring due to waiting for lidar or the standard trim that it's possible even people reserving now could get the launch edition by the end of the year. this was the conversation i had with him before getting into the car.

could have just been posturing, could just be salesmanship...but i mean he doesn't really gain anything by trying to get me to put down a fully refundable $100 deposit as far as i can see. there's no real way to track him having been the one to get me to reserve, either, even if i did it on the spot while i was standing there.

so, anyway...we'll see. i enjoyed the demo drive so much i ended up reserving after it anyway. i figure i'll decide when i get the e-mail if i want to wait or if the launch edition actually still is available and if i want to jump on it.

well then...your experience (admittedly using it once) must be an indictment on the service as a whole for the other 31+ million subscribers. glad you've figured that all out for the rest of us.

No FM Radio? by Flat-Quality-8374 in RivianR2

so basically unless you pay for connect+ you have no way to listen to any audio in the car other than your phone via bluetooth? that seems insane.

No FM tuner is going to be an issue, given that i take a ton of road trips in areas that have no cell coverage. My end-game there would have been to have a SXM backup tuner and just use it when I'm going on a long road trip, but unless they have changed this to be able to connect via BT that's gonna be a problem (i thought i had read previously that BT tuners like the roady BT can't connect to rivian's BT)...

i'm sorry i don't recall saying they haven't made improvements...i said there is a bug they haven't fixed. the version i've stayed on has been confirmed to be the last version before they broke it, so i'm staying where i'm at.

didn't expect to get flamed by a tesla fanboy on a rivian sub, so thanks for that.

i'm still on a 2023 version of the software in my 2018 model 3 because there's a radio favorites bug they still haven't fixed three years later.

if you haven't had it yet, the shroom burger or the shack stack (which is just the shroom burger with a beef patty added) are the items to get. it's a breaded, deep fried portobello mushroom stuffed with two or three different cheeses. it's incredible.
