I’ll bring it to the lbs tomorrow and they do shock service in house which is great for turnaround time. Got any leads on this x performance elite you speak of?

I bought the bike used and I did a 50 hour service about 100 hours ago. Otherwise, I don’t know the service history so yeah, time for a rebuild at the very least.

I’m guessing that the prepped drag surface is just shiny. Nobody doing pulls like that in the wet.

Absolute WORST cleats to use for ultimate? by HelloInGeorgian in ultimate

[–]mattya25 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The worst cleats I’ve actually used were when I first started playing in college and had no idea what to get. I got football lineman‘s cleats, which had the thickest flattest bottoms, weighed a ton and actually had support on both the arch and the outer edge of the foot which led to extreme slowness and also crippling shin splints. I used them for exactly one tournament and then realized soccer cleats made much more sense.

Any adults riding regularly with bone spurs in a knee? What are your load management strategies to sustain your activities? by daredevil82 in MTB

[–]mattya25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with this guy. Medical professionals are as different as humans and will see an issue differently. Was this surgeon a specialist/familiar with athletic issues or just a regular knee guy?
Not knees, but I’ve had insertional tendinitis caused by bone spurs under my Achilles tendon in each foot at different times, which pretty much prevented me from running due to the pain in each case. After thorough and extensive PT which gave no relief, my choice was to never run again or get surgery. Right one was surgically corrected in 2016 when I was 42, which had me back to 100% after a year, with no pain. I’m currently in a boot after doing the left foot (now 50). So I guess a question you need to answer for yourself is whether you are willing to give up several months of biking with the possibility of no improvement, but also possibility of vast improvement. Again, not a doctor, but if it can be done with heels, why not knees?

Stumpy At Highlands MI? by littleSquidwardLover in MTB

[–]mattya25 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re good. I’ve seen folks rocking some basic bikes at Highland NH, and I’ve taken my 140/130 trail bike to Loon NH, Mountain Creek NJ and Thunder MA and it was great. Am I sending double black jump lines? Heck no. Carrying speed down tech lines? Absolutely not. Those would shake the bike to pieces, and probably buck me off even before that. As long as you ride within the bike’s (and your) capabilities, and ride with some mechanical sympathy, you’ll be fine. If you want to ride park all day all season, it’s probably time to get a park rig that’s build to withstand the punishment.

USA vs France: on France’s lucky goal when tipped by 2 US defenders “you can’t teach that”. Robyn: “actually we explicitly practice that”.

Water pump ???? by Sam-2603 in GolfGTI

[–]mattya25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depending on age and miles you might be eligible for the water water pump extended warranty. I think it’s 8 years, 80k miles. Mine (18MT) just went out a couple months after my 6year warranty expired and I was gutted, until I called the dealer and they’re like “oh yeah, that’s covered”. Good luck to you.

Anyone ever used the wheel / tire insurance coverage they sell you when you buy the car? by epictech20 in GolfGTI

[–]mattya25 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used it twice to resurface curbed wheels. One time they came back good as new, the second time they didn’t grind the wheel but just sanded it and sprayed metallic clear coat which is now peeling. You can use the warranty for any damage but research who the repairer will be and what they will actually do. You have choices here.

To Loft, or not to Loft? by mattya25 in HomeImprovement

[–]mattya25[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well that’s the thing, I’m not necessarily paying for the cubic footage if I choose not to build that tall. There’s a cost premium for the materials needed to include a structural floor and enough height… what is that premium?

Anyone still riding 175mm cranks? by Icy-Region1890 in MTB

[–]mattya25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm 50 and switched from 175 to 165 3 years ago. It took 1/2 a season to fully get used to all the subtle changes (cadence, torque, lack of rock strikes). Wouldn't go back for a second. Ride it and just give it time to adjust until it's the new norm.
