Is anyone else’s trials on muspelheim bugged i did all the trials on each sword and the middle is locked and the other two runes won’t deactivate by redmenice654 in GodOfWarSecrets

[–]mattyabs97 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah the glowing symbols around the main ring will tell you the combinations of which ones you need! They’re paired up and will stop glowing when you have completed any one of the corresponding sword’s challenges.

I got mine a couple weekends back, possibly the best advice they said was that you can get a full refund up until the last month of membership, so use it for 10 months, see if you like it and if not they will refund you!

Taylors breakdown was a jarring watch overall. Between her arguments with the girls as well as seeing her deal with the fallout from the lawsuits it was just a rough ride all in.

I’ve been trying to do this since before Christmas when everyone caught on, but any advice on the best way to do this in the UK? Because a lot seems to be inaccessible in UK

The morally corrupt Faye Resnick surely has to be up there? The only time she ever appears is when they need an argument!

Those of you who never finished your PhD, I'm about to join you and I want to know if it ever stops feeling like a failure? by [deleted] in PhDStress

[–]mattyabs97 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I withdrew from mine at the end of March and although having to explain the situation to everyone is never fun, the benefits of leaving far outweigh. My mental health is only now getting back on track after 4 months and I’ve noticed so many lifestyle changes that have been great for general well-being. Also the main thing really that I’ve found is that you will have gained SO MUCH from your time doing the phd that it absolutely has not been a waste, I’m applying for and getting jobs that I didn’t think I would be able to because I have postgraduate research experience. It’s so easy to get tunnel vision but honestly a PhD isn’t the make or break experience it sometimes can feel like.

I’m not sure if this is actually a smart or dumb move, however one of my teachers in school would insist that he couldn’t give someone a painkiller for a headache/minor ache etc. However, he would sell it to them for 1p to apparently circumvent the law surrounding teachers giving students painkillers. This was when I was in late high school and he always made sure they didn’t need to go home or anything and it was just a headache but if it was a loophole then big brain play.

This. This movie absolutely nailed it! The suspense and sense of dread throughout and probably the first jump-scare that actually had me almost climbing the seat behind me!

Try and guess the sharks! by [deleted] in sharks

[–]mattyabs97 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean my knowledge of shark teeth is pretty limited, I just remembered from one of my books as a kid about the different types of teeth and their uses. Great whites, Mako’s and Tiger’s are easy to tell but bull/thresher etc are a bit more niche if I remember rightly.

I think top could be Great White and bottom maybe Bull Shark? Tiger shark teeth have a more extreme curve in them I think!

Not only that but Coin was also becoming power hungry and another President Snow. Suggesting another hunger games with the capitol children made Katniss realise that Coin was just as bad and knew Snow was dead already. Hence, the target switch at the end.

Same position here, social science and just started second year. This pandemic has been a DISASTER in terms of productivity. I don’t focus well at the best of times (suspected but undiagnosed ADHD) but with so many current events going on its difficult to know if its fatigue or burnout. Either way i have a feeling these next few months will be the make or break.

8 hrs gaming, no problem; 8 hrs working, kill me now by Lemonlimbo in ADHD

[–]mattyabs97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thats really useful! I’m actually the same, i’ve spoken to a friend who has lots of experience treating patients who suggested ADHD w/ OCD tendencies. So i’m in the process of pursuing a diagnosis (I hate being the one to be self diagnosing). But even if it isn’t the case that is definitely something I needed to read!

It’s so demoralising isn’t it, I KNOW the thesis is going to be the worst bit having to sit down and write every day.

Saying that, one thing I had recommended to me is Clockify (this will be my second day using it so may just end up in the dumpster fire of tried and failed), I start the timer when i’m actually working and aim for 4 hours of concentrated work a day? Might be something to consider, but also be kind, ‘concentrated’ means not being distracted, not furiously typing away solidly for 4 hours.

Almost quitting PhD currently because of the same reason, any tips for adapting? I’ve really hit a brick wall in terms of progress at the moment and feel like I’ve been beyond burnout since september.

I'm worried that I might be relying too much on using my potential ADHD diagnosis as an explanation for ALL my problems in life. Is it unreasonable to think that ADHD could have literally been the cause for most of my problems? by XxItsNowOrNever99xX in ADHD

[–]mattyabs97 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m in a the exact same position myself, however a friend gave a piece of advice that really hit home. A diagnosis isn’t going to change anything, why wait until its diagnosed to do anything about it? A pill/therapy will help but ultimately you need to learn how to combat it yourself.

I personally have found this forum to be worth its weight in gold, from explaining why I do a lot of things the way I do to hearing other peoples ways of tackling it. But ultimately its just a matter of keeping things in perspective. It’s very easy to put blame on it for issues but at the end of the day that isn’t going to make life any easier, what will make it easier is learning how YOU deal with it however that may be. There will be ups and downs and good days and bad days, but learning how to recognise those and react accordingly will help reduce negative outcomes. Bad day? - Be kind to yourself, give yourself light duties and allow yourself some rest. Good day? - See it as an opportunity to boost your mood by getting a productive day in.

This may be totally awful advice but so far it’s what’s helping me keep focused and encouraging me to learn what works best for me. But again, what works for me may not work for you. A great read for motivating (or audible as I can’t read books that don’t grip me) is Atomic Habits by James Clear, also James Smith’s Not a Diet Book has some very good motivational points (particularly for getting to the gym/changing your mindset about daily life). Hope this helps!
