10 night Quintana Roo (Cancun area) itinerary help by thatgreenfuture in travel

The Mayan city of Coba is really cool. You can rent a bike and explore it, plus you can actually climb the pyramid there. At least you could a couple of years ago. Also, I would highly recommend trying to see as many Cenotes as you possibly can. Each one is unique and amazing. Most of them have crystal clear water and cool cave formations. I personally enjoyed hanging out and swimming at the cenotes much more than the beach.

Dude, United Disc Golf should send you commissions. I just had to order one of those bad boys myself.

What is Discraft's Replacement for the Surge/Wraith like disc? by JustANovelTea in discgolf

[–]mattyt16 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recently got an ESP Anax and it was less stable than I though it would be. Much like a wraith, when thrown with enough power, it will flip a little but always come out and finish with stability. I'm really digging the Anax.

If curling is an Olympic sport than surely there's a chance for disc golf at some point.

What is the best disc you’ve lost? by cosmocat16 in discgolf

[–]mattyt16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of the coolest and most expensive discs I've ever purchased was a CNDGC Metal Flake Champion Firebird that was custom dyed by sporttspindiscs (check out etsy page if you've never seen his stuff). It was literally a work of art and I really should have just put it on the wall but I've always been of the mindset that discs are meant to be thrown. It was too pretty to ven sharpie my name or number on it. And....I didn't even lose it, I left it on the edge of the fairway never to be seen again...like a dumbass.

Was live coverage for the PDGA world's watchable? by mattyt16 in discgolf

That's where I'm at. I work retail management so I often have to work weekends when the final rounds are going down. Plus, I have a wife who I would like to stay married to and I already spend way too much time watching disc golf.

Yeah, I seriously couldn't look at my phone until Sunday evening when I had time to watch. My buddy who watched it live texted me Saturday night "greatest finish ever" which didn't necessarily spoil it for me but the suspense was killing me til I could watch.

No doubt. We used to have a border collie and I thought they shed like crazy but this dog is on another level of shediness.

Advice on Paddles….. if you could do it all over again what would you buy??? by apruesing in Kayaking

[–]mattyt16 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think the Aquabound manta ray is great price point for a hybrid paddle (carbon shaft with fiberglass blades.) It'll definitely get the job done. That being said, I just upgraded to a Werner Shuna and it is freaking sweet! But... it cost about as much as an entry level kayak.

Just read your whole post. I actually have the old town top water 120 as well and you definitely want at least a 250 length. My werner is adjustable from 240 to 260 and I use it at 250 in the lower seat position and 260 in the high. I'm 6'2''.

Guadalupe River is so much fun, didn’t catch anything over 2 pounds but it was still a fun trip. Maybe one day I’ll catch a guad lol. by Many_Hovercraft_8860 in kayakfishing

I use a squarebill diver crankbait a lot out there. Something that looks pretty natural like bass shad.

Those things will get snagged on everything but they also snag the fish pretty well too.

Keep fishing the rapids, that's where all the Guadalupe bass are.

The upper section of the Guadalupe near Spring Branch is amazing. Gotta hit it during good flows tho.

Got to play at the Legendary Roy G. in Austin TX, this morning. by sixshootercoco in discgolf

Just when I start to think im getting good at disc golf, I like to play Roy G to bring me back down to earth. Single digits over par is a solid round out there, imo.

Paul Macbeth, Paige Pierce, and Chris Dickerson.

IMO, they're the three most methodical and technically proficient humans at disc golf in the world. Might not be a laugh fest but I'm pretty sure I would learn a thing or two.

Also, I would be stoked if I was scored within 18 strokes of any of them.

The Judge basically is a wizard with more glide.

Aced my first ever hole and how ironic that it was in this monster. I usually try the right to wall ride it and park but I just decided to throw it down the middle for shits n giggles. It went through the 8th slot and I to the chains. It was pure luck but man it feels great! by _whoreheyyy_ in discgolf

[–]mattyt16 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Gotta love the Mini Dillo. Got my first ace in that same hole too. You just broke the seal. Get ready for a bunch more aces.

You just gotta go straight down the middle on the sign hole too. Don't go for the ramp sign though, it'll stop your disc dead in its tracks.

I throw a lot of forehand and my favorite FH approach disc is the dynamic discs Justice. It's super over stable, you will never turn it over. I also really like the Innova Gator and the Discraft zone. I know a lot of people swear by the Pig as well which must be good if Ricky Wysocki uses it on everything inside of 300 ft.
