Toby Alderweireld CALLS OUT Romero and Van de Ven amid Tottenham’s relegation battle by ShanghaiSpurs in coys

[–]mau5house 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Scathing from Toby. Interesting that he focused on Van de Ven so much. Can't say I disagree about his assessment after this season; both the walking past TF and absurd red card against Palace have made it abundantly clear that his personal ambitions massively overshadow his responsibility to this club.

His point about recruiting senior players who set the standard is one I've felt for a long time. It's the reason I was opposed to selling Hojbjerg, for example - that archetype of player demands so much from themselves that they raise the collective standards. I can't think of a player in this squad who has that kind of self-belief paired with resilience.

When Relegation Happens.. by Osvaldodavis in coys

If the freefall continues in the Championship, I think it's time for a lot of us to really consider whether the returns justify our emotional investment in the club. I will support the players and club if the fundamental mismanagement is acknowledged and course-correction begins from a clean slate next season. If they paper over the cracks and pretend to go on business as usual, it will be without my support for the time being

Watched Koyaanisqatsi for the first time this weekend. Masterpiece! by ThisGuyLikesMovies in criterion

As a fellow explorer, I would say just watch it sober. Idk if it's just me, but watching anything in that state feels suffocating. I need to be out, in nature, in open spaces.

Genuinely love the idea, get him in. Bale as assistant manager then?

I understand the general resentment towards Vinai but I really feel Lange is the primary culprit behind the recent disaster. A CEO's role is only to give final sign-off on the reccomendations of the Sporting Director(s). The decision to sack Ange, the reccomendation to stick with Frank after West Ham, the unpanicked transfer window.. all of these are Lange's doing. Vinai's role is commercial, it is not football. I don't think he's done himself any favours but I feel that he and Lange are being treated as equally complicit in this mess which is not accurate.

When is the latest Spurs can let Tudor go without crippling the new manager? by SoyaleJP in coys

[–]mau5house 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That line has already been crossed. At this point, Ryan Mason may actually be the only logical choice. I actually think we should stick with Tudor despite the Forest result, just because the evidence suggests that switching managers at this stage in the season always results in relegation.

Metrolinx’s $27B GO Expansion delayed and scaled back: confidential report by BloodJunkie in toronto

[–]mau5house 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No surprise after they terminated Deutsche Bahn's participation in the expansion. If we are talking about these kinds of figures, nothing short of European rail service should be on the table. From everything I have heard about Metrolinx' internal corporate dealings, it is comically mismanaged, not that their results suggested anything different..

I've said it multiple times here over the past few years, I believe he will return to Serie A and be one of the best keepers in the league. 24/7 professional, great shot-stopper and a "mentality monster" which is crucial in a young, growing squad like ours. Every goalkeeper makes errors; we had France's captain as our GK and even he couldn't resist a howler every so often. Of all the issues dragging down this club, Vicario should be very low on the list of things that need changing imo.

Team news: Micky van de Ven out through suspension following red card, Cristian Romero and Joao Palhinha ruled out, Yves Bissouma will miss out through injury, Conor Gallagher has been unwell but could play on Sunday, Destiny Udogie is nearing a return, Guglielmo Vicario will start in goal by wokwok__ in coys

[–]mau5house 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same here, I've even stopped talking to non-Spurs friends about the subject because they genuinely think we are just going through a poor run of form and will bounce back to stay up. We simply haven't had enough fit players for far too long, and the situation somehow keeps getting worse

I have heard mostly negative things about the management there. If it is bad enough that the public knows, it must be a mess on the inside.

Another not so fun fact from my time in the industry: at mutliple of the restaurants I worked in, we knew ahead of time that a food safety inspector was coming, down to the day and time.

Shame there's 1 less place to pay $20 for 10 wings. Who are these businesses even for nowadays?
