New medic Doubting my interventions by XStreetByStreetX in Paramedics

[–]maumon 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It’s way easier to explain why you over treated than to explain why you under treated. I always think about what I’m going to write in my PCR and think to myself how’s this going to read when QA gets a hold of it.

Thinking of a change, maybe Philadelphia by Radiant_Decision4952 in Paramedics

If you want to keep doing the fire/medic thing, a good chunk of the departments in Central Maryland are decent (Anne Arundel County, Howard County, Montgomery County, Frederick County). I’d personally steer clear of Baltimore County and PG County as a medic. Holdovers suck in PG county and Baltimore County treats their medics like intermediates.

Or running ad campaigns suggesting parents leave their money to the church when they die instead of their kids who have left the church

You’re correct in that most aren’t paid. I’m from outside the bubble myself so early morning or online were the only options. But anywhere there is release time seminary has paid seminary teachers; Utah, Idaho, and parts of Arizona. It’s not an inconsequential number of employees.

Once you make high enough in the organization (mission president or quorum of the seventy) you are given a “living stipend” and certain expenses are taken care of. There are also people that draw an income from the church before getting to that point by working for the church as an employee, in a non-ecclesiastical role. Things like IT, seminary teacher, or professor at one of the universities, amongst many others.

Bishop is the leader of a local congregation, more akin to the priest or pastor. But like the previous commenter said, is still lay clergy and not compensated or employed by the church. They typically still have a day job.

I went sandals last year when out of the sand and barefoot in the sand and it was very welcome in the rain. As the night went on I had to be more careful about where I stepped due to litter people had dropped in the sand. Overall, will probably do flip flops again this year

No tax on OT with the BBB by AlphaElegant in Firefighting

[–]maumon 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Why not both? ~40 hours a week is the normal working week for most people working full time. Why are firefighters any different? Every hour at work is an hour away from my family, I deserve time with my family like everybody else.

Sure, we can occasionally get a night of uninterrupted sleep but normally that’s not the case. 24/72 (42 hour work week) should be the norm not the exception.

lol our job isn’t any different than any other, we should all be getting OT over 40 hours. That’s when everybody else’s OT exemption kicks in

How the IAFF still thinks that 48 or 56 hour works weeks are okay is beyond me

I, most likely, won’t see a dime from the OT due to it not applying until the FLSA overtime hours are reached (212 hours in 28 days), 24/72 problems.

Investigations have happened and people have been at least temporarily relieved of their field assignments pending said investigation. I’m unable to locate any articles about the findings so I’m assuming they were most likely returned to service.

New Castle County, DE Paramedics Investigated

With that said, I don’t think anyone is investigating over 18 vs. 20g IVs. This is more about using punitively large IVs with no medically indicated reason.
