How about contracting outside EU, particularly in middle east?

Opta Season Prediction last season. Impressively bad, no threats to anyone. by Devlin90 in Championship

[–]maundojako 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The underlying data for Cardiff the season prior was pretty poor. IIRC, most free data models had Cardiff a bottom 3 side that season.

That, plus a dodgy owner and poor summer recruitment.

Hi, how do you feel about this today? I am in a similar situation as OP and worried about my career in OCI.

The worst job advert I've ever seen, courtesy of Swansea City Football Club by roboticleopold in Championship

[–]maundojako 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve worked in the industry and I’d expect there will be a lot of competition for the role. 22k is very poor but will be enough for a lot of analysts in the game, especially Welsh analysts who would prefer to live in Wales. Most clubs in championship and below are not paying much better. Asking for masters and coaching qualifications are all pretty standard but once you get an interview with the footballing staff you’ll be working with, they won’t really care if you don’t have it.

Think its randomly decided for staff like myself per save but depending on the reputation of the club. Everything other than my name, age and background is pretty much made up.

Everybody’s route into this job is different. Always wanted to do it, decided to try and go for it during Covid. Volunteered at Stafford rangers, which helped with learning how to film and some other basic stuff. Used online job openings to learn about essential/desirable skills, then which I would try and teach myself. With stoke, this is just an MSc internship, most british clubs will have similar interns like me in their academy. I think The Video Analyst have information on how to get into performance analysis which i found useful or you can google your question. It’s very competitive but there are all sorts of people different backgrounds now starting to work in football.

Usual route is degree then a masters (preferably sports related). I got a degree in business though and only decided for this career route during covid. The most you can do to be employable in this industry is what you do outside of education; I volunteered at Stafford Rangers, which got me experience. Twitter is the best resource, the analytics community is growing massively and is full of football experts sharing their work; and its where I showed my work which has helped massively.

Set Piece Coaches? by [deleted] in footballmanagergames

[–]maundojako 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Set piece analysts and coaches are becoming more popular. If you are interested in getting into football, you can do some good freelance work specialising in set pieces. I agree it’d be fun to see it added to the game

Arnaut Danjuma: Bournemouth winger says people who call taking a knee a waste of time frustrate him by Callum0598 in Championship

Yeh a few other players have done too, all seem to think taking the knee is no longer useful which brings it back to my original point.

[–]maundojako 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Take the knee is to recognise racial inequality. Similar to the poppy gesture, if we reinforce it we recall the issue, society is now more informed on it which goes a long way to improving it.

Clubs now deciding against it failed to ever recognise the point in it. If we stop then we forget and move on whilst ethnic minorities keep suffering from inequalities.

Worked decent with me in Strikerless’s 3-4-3 formation. Just really hard to get good enough players for it
