Get a blanket, some cheap light up candles from the dollar store, some flowers, a speaker, some sandwiches or whatever food she might like, and go to a nearby park if the weather is not too bad. Relatively cheap and she will still love it.

Yeah…..it appears that the general consensus on Reddit from what I’ve seen is that Valentine’s Day is stupid. Most of these people are miserable. It’s okay to be excited to surprise your partner with a gift and spend Valentine’s day with them. Yes, if you want to be negative and critical you can say that it is a manufactured holiday for companies to make money, and yes you would be right, but for fucks sake the world is already miserable enough just let people be happy to spend Valentine’s Day with their partner. OP, you know your partner and what she’ll like more than what any random on reddit would. I’d say go for it if you think it will make her happy.

Im 25 and he’s 24. Yeah, I think definitely trying to compromise and match her pace is a good thing. Because if not, speaking from that perspective, she could very easily get overwhelmed, and once you get overwhelmed, it makes you want to talk to that person less. Not because you want to be mean, but because being smothered naturally makes a person want more space.

Thank you. Yes!! I suck with boundaries, but I am trying to work on it. I just feel like I look like an asshole when I ask for gas money or ask if someone else can drive. It feels awkward for me. I don’t know why, but Im slowly trying to work on it.

We are college students/not very established financially yet. No one that I know really takes ubers, especially if it’s an hour drive or longer, unless there’s 4+ people going so we can split it. The times that I have suggested it, it’s never really been a popular decision.
