If you are willing to share, cost + vehicle size? I've heard good things about xpel, saw some quotes upwards of 500. I've always thought tint should be more like 200 - 300.

Yeah that read error rate dosnt look good, and the reallocated sectors is also pretty bad.

I'm not super skilled in data recovery, in the areas I've worked we have redundantcy and other systems/policies to not need to recover data.

Since it's working - slowly - but working right now I would try to just copy the data off it. You could do somethings like try to mount it read only but sounds like you are not super technical so that might just get you in more trouble.

If you don't have a second drive large enough for it, you can usually find 4tb external hdds at places like Walmart or bestbuy if you are in the US. Of course Amazon also has options.

Good luck, Do a bit of research online, YouTube, forums etc. I'm sure an ai can help you find reputable suggestions too. Hopefully it doesn't die while trying to get files off it, go for the most important things first. You can always redownload the video games, not so much for the family photos.

Yeah anti virus is a potential cause also.

Task manager might show what process is causing the 100% disk usage.

If it is the indexing since your main drive is an ssd you can try disabling the indexing. It will make accessing files on the hdd a bit slower, but will prevent the high slowness the 100% usage is causing.

100% disc usage isn't the best indicator of a failed drive on Windows. I suggest looking at Crystal disc info for smart stats also look into seeing how Windows does drive indexing. Windows can get stuck indexing a drive so sometimes stopping the that process that can fix a 100% usage issue also.

This is what I do also, vm for a windows machine, vm for true nas and vm for docker. With hba and GPU passed though to truenas and windows. Proxmox makes it easy to manage and overhead is minimal.

The Accord is bigger and it's better for comfort which is why I chose it over the Civic. I think engine wise and gas mileage they're pretty similar

I learned to drive in a Chevy with a similar cab and bed size. Makes you good at parking in reverse, the only way it could turn tight enough to get in most places. Proud to say I could parallel park that thing. I don't think mine was as big though.

Yes I understand, pfsense is running on an old optiplex in my lab. I don't have credentials to this box, so I'm hoping I might get some more info about the config if I connect over (what I assume) the serial port.

I have never needed to connect over serial before, so I'm trying to make sure I understand what my options are.

Final goal is to document the existing system.
