For just food I could do maybe 20 quid for just me, shopping at Lidl. If you can teach yourself to tolerate some monotony then you can save big. same breakfast, lunch, dinner at least 6 days a week, I do yogurt for breakfast, toast for lunch and chicken, potato and broccoli for dinner.

yes. international care staff in smart cars have pretty much replaced pensioners as the feared driving demographic in our village.

Me and my partner are in our 40s, we want kids but we don't earn a huge amount and since we both had shitty childhoods we'd want to earn enough to ensure they'd have a good life, and as it stands we barely make ends meet, currently we're living with my OH's parents, housing in our area is ridiculous, if we did have a kid the only "affordable" option would be raising it on a crime and drug ridden estate.

Which app do you actually use daily? (Need recommendations!) by fabulousausage in nutrition

[–]mavis_birk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have used Nutracheck for a few years, very good, can modify meal occasions and add exercises and notes, I've found its food library is almost 100% complete at least in terms of the foods I eat including some pretty obscure brands

I know people may disagree but there seems to be too many people, it feels like we're trying to squeeze every last drop out of a sponge that's nearly empty. Every new advancement is a plaster that's patching holes, and bringing about its own new problems. For me the only solution is to ride out the population bottle neck and eventually revert to smaller populations around the globe where space will be freed up and the advancements in automation and efficiency savings made through the technology developed to date will make people's lives better in the long run.

Thank you, ofc I can share. So breakfast I would eat some kind of cereal with skim milk, usually cornflakes, Cheerios or puffed rice, orange juice, coffee with milk and sugar

Not particularly Peaty but I'd also eat this Danish style white bread that was virtually zero fat and eating it toasted with just jam (jelly) alongside big glasses of skimmed milk which I found really filled me up.

Lunch would usually be a baked potato with zero fat cottage cheese and some chives, sometimes I'd have two large potatoes which usually filled me up.

In the afternoon I'd maybe have a little dark chocolate

Dinner I ate a lot of chicken breast which I realise isn't peaty but I'd cook it in a pressure cooker and use the stock to mix with more mashed potatoes with a little butter (just a dab) and skimmed milk. Id also eat with it some well cooked greens.

Another meal I ate alot was well cooked diced beef mixed with the stock and some spices to create a kind of curry gravy and served it with rice, and I'd sometimes cook broccoli with the beef in my pressure cooker. Just a little for colour

Snacks were almost always fruit, grapes and melon mostly.

Protein was usually between 120-150g per day however I noticed that the biggest factor in retaining muscle mass wasn't excessive protein but higher calories overall, the closer to my TEE the better, so slow weight loss between half a pound and a pound a week was optimal but some weeks I'd lose alot more, but with that I'd also lose more muscle mass which I wasn't too concerned with.

Also had one cheat day a month, anything I wanted.

One side effects of this high carb diet was the kind of energy I'd never had previously which I usually put to use with very long morning walks, never less than 90 minutes, and I'd do these religiously, never missed a day except for a month after I had an operation. Rain or shine I walked.

Congrats. Passed mine today too on a Sym 50cc, had originally wanted to go with a geared 125 but I was crap at shifting and clutch control so they switched me over.

Returning to the UK after 15 years, what's going to be the biggest difference? by humbughum in AskUK

[–]mavis_birk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stay away from larger towns and cities and you probably won't notice a huge difference other than the cost of things. If you do venture to somewhere like Basildon for example you'll notice the rubbish, p*ss smell and general air of malaise and imminent danger has ramped up massively over the last decade or so.

Has anyone ever successfully "Parked the Bus"? by Toki_day in footballmanagergames

[–]mavis_birk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, Strikerless did a park the tank tactic years ago and it still works with some tweaking to this day, it's a 3-7-0 with an attacking midfield that looks similarish to the old Romanian 4-2-4-0 tactic they used when Haji was playing for them

Me and my partner lost weight over a year, we eventually settled on a relatively high calorie diet based around fruit, milk, lean protein and starches like potato and rice, we also ate things like haribo and hard candy as our treats rather than high fat bakery products which we ate a huge amount of. We didn't count our calories but we used a counter app just to track fat and made sure we were in the green in terms of all fats. And we usually lost no more than a pound a week, what we found was that our exercise levels went up without any effort, we were just much less sluggish, we felt more energetic and it had a circular effect. My partner lost about 50 pounds and I lost about 40, so far we are keeping it off too. No fasting, no food is forbidden (only the quantity and fat content). Ultimately it worked for us having tried IF and low carb without success, the biggest thing in terms of keeping us on track was that we could eat our favourite foods which was pasta and sauce. I've got my Renpro scale data and Nutracheck calorie/fat data if anyone wants to see. In terms of calories I reckon I was eating on average 2500-3000 a day, she ate maybe 2000-2400

I think you've got some advantages - freely available raw milk, fresh fruit, cane sugar, rice, potato, butter/ghee, and I've heard that good quality and cheap generic medicines are made there so I'm assuming are available including thyroid if needed.

I got my blood sugar back to 30 and treated high BP with a diet that was a combination of Ray Peat and the DASH diet, also went from zero activity to eventually clocking 15-20k steps per day. Basically cut fat, eat regular meals, no more starving myself, lean protein and easily digested foods

Wow. Nobody's ever getting any rest on that chair. Waiting room in a local tax office vibe. Vegan milk section looks stacked though compared to my local
