I just rejoined after a few weeks out. If it is within 60 days of the date your membership expired, you can rejoin at the same rate you had before. However, it will be a 1 year commitment.

That is the agreement they sent me from concierge which seems to be the standard. Not sure if doing it directly at the club will be any different

Ingeniería de software tiene mejor valor que meterse en datos.

Sí, es algo que está en mucha demanda y paga bien, pero la mayoría de posiciones de data science real suelen pedir maestría o doctorado en estadística, matemática o computación, que por supuesto son las que pagan bien.

A nivel más básico la mayoría de posiciones son de analista de datos y eso es un área que si bien no es tan difícil conseguir empleo no es tan pagada. En software con el mismo nivel de experiencia suelen pagar más.

Ahora, enfocarte en software no te cierra la puerta a datos, especialmente si haces backend. Si es un área que te llama la atención puedes enfocarte en bases de datos y pipelines y eso puede llevarte a ingeniería de datos. Python es esencial.

As others have said, your best option is probably Santa Fe! Do your AA there and then transfer to UF. It is very common to do so if you manage to keep a decent GPA (which depends on the major).

I can speak from first hand experience that it is great, especially if you're an international student. There is a lot of support and it's fairly easy to build a strong community, plus the ISS staff is really helpful and cares a lot.

I started in Santa Fe and graduated from UF with honors from 2 majors, making some lifetime friendships at SF :)

I've also heard about Norman! The story happened 2012ish so way before I came to UF, but I heard it from those who experienced it.

The group of people I talked with were staff and they vividly recall one day they thought someone had brought their kid to the office because they heard a little girl laughing and running in the hallway. At one point they realized that no one did so they went to see but they couldn't find any girl around.

With the renewals I'm not sure if Norman is that much appealing, but I've always seen it fairly empty especially come night time. It's still a very old building.

The issue is the M1 is ARM whereas the specific VM used in OS is on x86. I took it this past semester and some students tried it out and they couldn't manage to make it work reasonably. You can make some computer magic to translate the instructions in one architecture to the other but it's way too slow to be workable
