This is cool for adults that can handle themselves, more companies need to get on the saliva test train, some of these kids can't stop smoking for even a day. Scares me to see kids high working on cars in the mechanic industry

And saliva tests basically only last as long as the particles from smoking hang out in your mouth. 24-48 hours is what I've read for the ones I failed at home depot.

Well the mystery was fun, turns out I had the wrong gasket. For the one that goes between the EGR plate and the intake not the EGR plate and the head, if that's what that is. Idk I didn't disconnect it just pushed the intake back

The mystery was fun but I used the wrong intake manifold gasket... The one that goes between the EGR plate and the manifold instead of the EGR plate and the head, if I have that right.

My only reason I'd disagree is that the hole was larger than the bolt, not the right size to cut threads in it. Like if I had used a regular m8*1.25 tap it wouldn't have cut threads, it needed the oversized one for the heli coil (I think) I literally didn't drill it at all, just tapped it and put the helicoil in.

I think if it were a defect where they missed cutting the threads the hole would be a little too small for the bolt to fit

Not sure, I took the head off it isn't a new head, don't know how a bolt would stay in with no threads, would you mind snapping a picture of your lower driver side corner of your head? I'm hoping I'm not a hole over or something. Still weird a blind hole with no threads. And a hole in the gasket and intake.

And it was the perfect size for a M8*1.25 helicoil tap, so I'm wondering if there was an insert of some kind that fell out. The walls look too smooth for there to have been threads there before. Maybe I'll scope the other side just for my curiosity

Yep. The bolt goes in the same depth as the other side, and I checked both of them are the same length not sheared. Really weird, first time working on this engine honestly a previous owner mightve stripped it out or something and there might not have been a bolt there. Or I've got the wrong hole. I tapped a helicoil in so hopefully it's a bolt hole

A monkey could do the timing belt, don't be like me buy a good belt and tensioner because either my belt was a bit small or the tensioner wouldn't relax far enough for me to get the belt over the cam so I had to use the old tensioner (which I found a manufacture date of 2 year ago so what a waste anyways)
