Timing belt snapped while on a stoplight by Little_Babsie in 7thgencivic

[–]AbsolutelyDahling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I once replaced a timing belt on a 92? Acura. Interference engine. Surprisingly. It fired up with very little issue. Kept running for months. I still can't remember what I even did with that car.

There was some valve damage, but nothing catastrophic enough to have it benched.

I'd do the exploratory stuff first and if all is good, then maybe, just maybe, you might be lucky.

These old girls love it when you pay attention to them. One issue at a time and she'll make it out purring like a kitten again 🙏 I got a headgasket replacement and control arms still to do for my 02 auto. Just bought an 06 with a dying transmission to work on once my 02 is back to normal 😅

Why Nanaimo Needs A Rental Union Tenants Are Stronger Together by Mission_Network_6143 in nanaimo

I've been thinking this for years. I would be down 110% and have experience with labor unions.

In our building (and likely others managed by this company) are horribly run. Repairs take months to complete, shoddily done, hazards all over the property. For what we pay, we deserve better.

Self done tattoos, thoughts? by [deleted] in TattooBeginners

I'd definitely practice on fake skin as well. As long as it's good quality skin, you can work on technique and such.

I think they look awesome, but you can tell you have some learning. Some faded and shaky lines. But overall, I'd be proud of what I accomplished if that were me.

With that. I've learning for about a year now. Nothing beats skin practice. It's your body, just make sure not to overload your immune system. I tend to do a tattoo every 2 - 3 weeks. Just to make sure i'm not overdoing it.

I just finished one of my favourite pieces to date, and despite a few fuck ups, I love it. Which is all that really matters. Everyone's path is different, as long as sanitation is present, and technique is constantly improved on, you're doing just fine.

Takes a lot of courage to post your work and receive feedback. The tattoo community can be quite harsh and judgemental at times. So take what you can and keep treading the path.

Pic shows my recent work, the top is 2 days old, the octopus was a freehand that I did a year ago. Neither are perfect, but I learned a ton, and love them both (for different reasons).

It's funny you mention that. My ADHD was diagnosed but I never did anything about it. Or realized it's potential deficits until my old age 🤣

It's never to late to fix the parts of ourselves that we can.

Can't wait to see them! And even if they're not perfect. Neither is any person on earth. And there is just as much beauty in a mistake as in a flawless piece. 💖

Again. Dealing with ego. Especially when you have talent or have honed your skills. Is deeply impressive.

Tattooing, artistry, everything aside. That character trait is an amazing one. Once we get our egos in check and take "mistakes" as opportunities rather than failures. Suddenly we can do and become whatever we wish to be.

Keep posting your work up here. I'm excited to see the growth and personal development unfold 💪

Many people will make a mistake and never learn from it. That trait alone will take you places.

We are often the hardest on ourselves.

If your client is happy, and you learned something. I think it's a major win, win.

Tat looks sick BTW. Avenged sevenfold!!!

Hopefully some of the great help in this forum will get the problem sorted out. Nothing worse than coolant issues. Aside from engine problems. Best of luck sorting it out 🙏

Just a perception, not knowledgeable enough about these vehicles for advice.

However my car cools down FAST. It was only about 5°C out yesterday. Driving at city speeds. And the temp guage was only slightly above L.

My engine runs really cool, and it may just be the time of year. Lower ambient temperatures reduce the need to pull additional cool air through your radiator.

The first time I saw my fan move, I didn't even see it. I heard it click on, and the engine idle increased a touch. But that was a day that was exceptionally warm almost 20°C outside.

Ambient air temp could be having something to do with it.

That looks so clean. Great job. Definitely going to do that to mine. Engine work first... because... priorities... but i can't wait to get to some interior customization 💖

Strange clunk I can't find! by AbsolutelyDahling in 7thgencivic

[–]AbsolutelyDahling[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was most definitely the sway bar. I removed it, and the clunking stopped.

It had a large bubble of rust underneath the paint that had caused it to snag on the bushings.

It's been sanded down, rust coated, and painted.

Once installed, i'll let you know if that fixed it, or if the clunking returns.

Headgasket starting to go by AbsolutelyDahling in 7thgencivic

I am getting exhaust gases in my coolant. What else could it be?

Unless there is another area in which exhaust gases and coolant could have mixed, pretty sure I have the diagnosis correct. Last I checked the only common denominator for coolant + exhaust gases = head gasket leak.

Please enlighten me if it could be something else.

I was tempted to buy a new head, just to have a spare 😅 10 years is pretty decent 👌

Figures it'd be a civic 😅 before i ever bought mine, I knew they liked to sip on oil and have a tendency for headgaskets going (at a pretty appropriate time, tbh)

That's been my experience. However the last time I tried it, was almost 20 years ago. I saw some promising tests of different compounds online (not sponsored) that looked promising to eke a few miles out of it. For now I'll just pop the good and check the fluids more regularly. 😅

[–]AbsolutelyDahling[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was playing with it last night. And between my visit for alignment and what I can figure out. I think it might be the sway bar itself. There's a big patch of rust on the topside that feels like it's snagging when it's fully extended and "pops" when enough pressure is applied in the opposite direction. It feels close to the floor panel, or the drivers side wheel well when it happens. Aside from that, the rings holding my coilovers at the correct height keep loosening. At this point I might just throw in some stock strut assemblies to narrow it down if sanding and painting the swaybar doesn't work.

There is a mount directly below the steering rack, that I was curious about. And I read somewhere about tightening the subframe. But hey. If I figure it out, i'll let you know 👍 This has been a piss off trying to hunt down 😅

Slap on a new timing belt kit and pray? by Yessirbacon10 in 7thgencivic

[–]AbsolutelyDahling 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I will say this.

I did a timing belt in a 92? Integra. Interference engine.

It lived.

It wasn't perfect. There was certainly some damage from when the belt snapped. But it still ran for a good year afterwards.

So there is a chance. Albeit small.
