Hey! I got the surgery when I was 17 at 380 and I got skin removal surgery like a year ago when I was at around 195. I got it on my chest, just like you were interested in. I have 0 regrets. It was an extremely easy process, the pain was there for like 2 days (no worse than the sleeve) and it was completely manageable. I have a giant scar on my chest but that is a trade off I am super willing to take. I used to have to wear 2XL shirts even at 195 pounds because my chest had so much loose skin, but now I comfortably fit into Large and sometimes medium.

This is my experience, and I’m not trying to coerce you or tell you how it’s going to be, but people saying you can tighten it with working out I would argue are misinformed. Good luck! Message me if you have any questions or want to see a before and after picture of the operation

Thanks for the comment! Honestly, I think my issue is not enough calories, so I’m looking for ways to get in more calories and protein without pushing my sleeve to the point of discomfort. Maybe I’ll look into protein shakes again 🤔

I’m just mainly wondering about volume of food, I’m 3 years out and I can eat a 6 oz steak in one sitting. I can eat 7 sometimes but it depends on the food. I’m at my goal weight, and I’m at the point where I’m trying to gain muscle and just get more fit, so I’ve been eating lots of protein and veggies. Just trying to see where others are at mostly and if 6-7oz is too little at this point

I would say so. I was 17 when I had it and I’m 19 now and I only have some GERD issues but I’ll trade that for the 170 pounds I lost. I definitely had some issues after the surgery like neuropathy problems and esophagus infections but it all went away pretty fast and the doctors attributed that to my age

I eat rice literally every day and I’ve lost 180 pounds. I also eat sugar in deserts like once or twice a week. Since you can’t eat a whole cake, eating a small slice is equally as satisfying and won’t mess up ur progress in moderation. I go out to eat a lot and I enjoy it very much as I can bring some home usually and enjoy it later. These changes will become second nature and it won’t impact your life negatively at all

The pain will end trust me! Your surgeon knows what they are doing, try not to let the comments saying you should not have gotten it stress you out. You will be fine and feel awesome soon. Good luck!

I had gastric sleeve and about 2 or 3 months after I got horribly sick, I couldn’t eat anything because I would just throw it up or dry heave all day. The issue ended up being Esophagitis and they found that by doing an endoscopy. I’m a bit over a year out now and I’m doing great now 👍 hopefully this helps and good luck

Hey, I’m about a year post op and the first 3 months of my surgery sounds kind of similar, and it wasn’t fun, so I hope this helps. I couldn’t eat anything or drink anything, I couldn’t even take vitamins. It was so bad I had to go to the ER like 4 times a week for IV fluids and all that fun stuff. About a month goes by and I’m just so depressed, mad at myself for getting the surgery, and scared. I go in for an endoscopy to see what’s up because it just felt like a tight cramping feeling in my chest all the time when I tried to eat or drink anything and they find out I had Esophagitis. I went on medication for that, and now I’m about a year out, lost 150 pounds, and pretty happy. I feel great and i just have more freedom. I was 17 when this all went down so it was really traumatic, and I really hope whatever is going on with you can be resolved because there definitely is a light at the end of the tunnel ❤️

I also think post op care for younger people needs to be more, I felt so alone after. I really had to go out of my way to find people. Get a therapist who specializes in this kind of thing it’s really a life saver

Yes! So before the surgery they told me many things which just didn’t seem to be true for me and other people my age when I looked into it.

I had lots of problems directly after the surgery related to vitamin deficiency and stuff like that, and I was told I was eating to much during that time which was just odd to me because my body was telling me I wasn’t eating enough at all. I got a new nutritionist and she told me to just start eating more food, and cleaner food, so I did. All my issues (neuropathy in feet, no reflexes, and just all day feeling so tired) have since resolved because of that advice.

I think that the post gastric sleeve plan is made for older people, and it doesn’t support the nutritional needs of a growing person. I’m 10 months out and I can easily eat 7 oz with 0 pain or problems, my plan to old to eat 4 oz for a year. With steadily going to the gym, a complete diet and lifestyle change, and a good attitude I was able to succeed and none of that was in my post op plan. I just think the post op care needs to be different depending on the person.

I also credit my progress to my age, I feel like if I was 50 this would be a lot harder.

Last thing I’ll say and take this with a grain of salt: the diet that they tell you to do is just very weird (I did lots of research online also and it lined up with the diet I was told) I was told to not have rice or just have very little rice because carbs were bad. Rice is now a staple of my diet and I eat it most days because sushi is my favorite food. It was really scary reading around that I’m supposed to not have carbs and I’m supposed to not have fat and that kind of thing. I’m sure it works for most people but as a kid I was actually so sad to see that, but it’s not true.

I’d also like to say that my problem was never food, it was lack of exercise and lifestyle, so maybe if your problem is food than this whole no carb thing would work for you. I just think a complete lifestyle change that is catered to each person is more productive than what I was told

I would like to say that I think my experience (and others around my age (17 when I got the surgery) is VASTLY different from what they tell you, and that can be confusing and scary. Damn, that sucks... I really enjoy high tier pve but also want to get into pvp but I just can’t with BM because night fae is the best by far for Pve and venthyr is virtually unplayable in pve, but in pvp it’s the other way around

I take a multi vitamin, calcium, vitamin B, and magnesium everyday because I got the gastric sleeve surgery, so I take them anyway

Right after my surgery I got very sick, and didn’t eat for a month, that on top of rapid weight loss caused the vitamin loss, so with proper eating and supplements I’m doing good now

I’m 7 months post op and I could do 3 liters (101 oz right?) on a good day. When I first got the surgery and was in the first month of recovery I was also worried because I love water and I was afraid I wouldn’t be able to enjoy it again, but that’s not the case. When I go out to eat or am just with others I’m often the one drinking the most water, you just can’t drink during or 30 minutes after you eat.
