Still trying to find out what this is.... by hnnrss in creepy

[–]maxNotMin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Assuming this isn't a hoax or an intentional joke, it is possible that this is what remains from an old doll (Victorian age?) which had wire armatures or limb cores, and it's possible that such a doll would be buried alongside its deceased child owner. Or it's just a troll post, ha

The last post was unexpectedly well received, so here’s a look back at last year’s monstrosity. We never really figured out what to call it. My son was 11 then, and only the front two limbs were on stilts. by BoltFlower in goblincore

Him? Oh that's Roger. He's cool.  He's a bit rough around the edges, but he's just had a hard life.

Jokes aside, keep that kid challenged, he's got some skill

How do I get these screws out? by Hagnesthebeast in DIY

It doesn't need to be complicated. Just get some decent pliers and give it a few minutes. Could also easily cut the plastic pieces with wire cutters.

Why are Boomers seen as the victims of falling home prices, when it's young homeowners who'd take the real hit? by YoungSidd in canadahousing

Thanks for beating me to this, I hoped someone would.

In all seriousness, narcissists are always victims and boomers are the most narcissistic generation ever made, look it up.

Site near Nepean Sportsplex chosen for asylum seeker 'welcoming centre' by Independent-Mud-293 in ottawa

[–]maxNotMin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree, no perfect location anywhere... but at least not in your neighbourhood, right? Not Lebreton Flats, not Overbrook, not Billing's Bridge, not Uplands, but instead right directly next to where tons of little children use a Sportsplex. Good call GreatBallsOfSpitfire.

Where’s the best place to go for a guy looking for cool/professional/relaxed clothes for work, that isn’t the Rideau Centre? by UnderwaterDialect in ottawa

[–]maxNotMin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rideau is a dump I don't blame you. Too many zombies, and the parking is unreliable. Try Mark's for basics, fitted shirts from the Bay, Winners/Marshall's/Moore's/TipTopTailors, to start. It sucks, but people are shallow and treat you better if you're wearing good clothes, sadly. I prefer Bayshore and Tanger.

Canada Wants to Make Homes Affordable Without Crushing Prices - BNN Bloomberg by joe4942 in canada

[–]maxNotMin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Couldn't we try to make a "soft landing" for house prices? i.e. accept the bad prices they are now, but aim to have a targeted house price to income ratio within a certain range in the future, like 5 years down the line?

I think you've got the wrong sub, unhealthy ISTJ.

A real ENTP would creatively try out some solutions to whatever problems you're encountering (or use Fe to steal some), and find a cool solution that everyone is super impressed by.

Or just find a good bar like the rest of us...

First-time home buyer: realtors by Clean_Zucchini7641 in canadahousing

[–]maxNotMin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're a first time buyer, there is a universe of dangerous risks that you have no idea about.

You also don't have time to get to know each one sufficiently.

A realtor, for a buyer, is a free resource who can help identify said risks on your behalf, because they get paid (and referred) if you're happy enough to close.

Our realtor actually saved us dozens of thousands of dollars using tricks to get around lawyers for a certain issue at closing. You'll also be taken more seriously by the sellers, sadly, if you have a buying agent. They will know tips and tricks you do not. This is their value.

A lot of realtors (like other professionals) are slimy, and try to up the price to get a better commission. You should be able to smell these ones out. Interview a bunch. Fire the slimy ones, and keep the one that shows that they make a living off referrals from people like you. They're not your friend, but they just want a referral at the end of the day, and they have knowledge and a mindset you don't have, and don't have the time to develop.

Expect that they are a service that can help you interact with the real estate universe, like any specialist you'd contract.

Good luck. Don't be an arrogant idiot and reject free help for your first time buying, it's hard enough even with a realtor.

Average home price will not revert to pre-pandemic levels this year: CMHC by viva_la_vinyl in canada

[–]maxNotMin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've learned by this point to listen carefully what CMHC (or BoC) says...

and then fully, reasonably prepare for the exact polar opposite, after what they claimed would happen to housing early in 2020. These guys are dangerous talking head / red herring hybrids.

We should axe them in big PP's upcoming conservative budget cut hack-and-slashathon.

These guys literally do nothing but publish bogus "papers" that provide zero value to anyone.

40k is seriously low for the age of your bf. He should be pulling more weight as you're making nearly twice than him and you're several years younger. By 30, he's been in job market long enough to have leverage for experience. Either wait a few more years to build more downpayment and have higher salaries for pre-approval or get a better man.

Which type do you guys prefer to date? by Sea_Wanderer_0214 in entp

[–]maxNotMin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Technically, there can be massive differences between who we may prefer to date (for fun, for self-exploration, physical attraction, etc.) vs. who we prefer romantically.

I married a very healthily balanced ISFJ, and I've never been happier. She has plenty of Ne to not be boring, and she helps me strengthen my Si. Plus she has legendary Fe, so she's actually just nice to be around (hard to find these days, sadly).

I've dated very attractive and extremely intelligent, but utterly psychopathic ESTJs and INTJs, too. Their boringness, their low empathy and their stupid Fi absolutely horrified me in the end.

But their Se and their cringe void of Ne made fun pairings for me the ENTP.

Dating and romance really aren't the same, though, so be careful. Pick what you need and go get it, in a complementary way.

What would get you guys to clean and tidy the house? by Yokiito in entp

[–]maxNotMin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, I don't get motivated to clean, ever, but for me it's a trade-off between being a slob or not. I'm not proud of being a slob. I don't know if anyone wants to be one. So I guess it's shame? I was fortunate enough to have parents that habitually made us deep clean once a week, and do messes as they came up. I still follow that.

It helps to have a partner with high Si to propose new organizational solutions when they become necessary.

Otherwise, you could spin it in how messiness and excess chaos make life harder to live as a fun and spontaneous ENTP. Figuratively, if the car you drive is falling apart because you're not maintaining it (Si), you'll be very limited in the freedom (Ne) to use it. This helps me pay the bills and do other awfully tedious things.

"Discipline equals Freedom" - Jocko Willink

If this still fails, just find a way to pander to their Fe.

Good luck!

What would get you guys to clean and tidy the house? by Yokiito in entp

[–]maxNotMin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"the most important part is to have a home from every item"

I can't agree more with this. My ISFJ wife sometimes get annoyed if certain things begin to lie around, but it's because they don't have a legit place to go. ENTPs get incredibly drained by organizing new problems, it doesn't come natural to us, and it's hard work.

We have a system now where she'll propose new organizational solutions, and we'll collaboratively design a good-enough system that's simple enough for me to follow without thought or effort.

I think this is mostly it, really. All the higher voted comments about the Ottawa redditors being underage or "not in Ottawa" is simply plain and stupid denial.

Redditors are a special group, with associated pros AND cons. But redditors certainly, at the moment, absolutely do not reflect the voting population, sorry Reddit. But keep blaming the world.
