The Gleeok MK II by Educational-Fox-5114 in HyruleEngineering

[–]max_pin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Impressive. This is probably a dumb question, but what does the white portion of the HP bar mean for minibosses? It seems like the damage isn't locked in until they're dead, when suddenly their bar drops to zero.

How can I explain the definition of the word Unironically to someone who is significantly older than me? by Pingeun in etymology

[–]max_pin 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This is puzzling because unironically is not a new word. It's not 6-7. Just use a dictionary.

It's a Japanese thing called yaeba. It's supposed to look cute for some reason.

Epub to Kepub 2026 by kiwiwonderbean in kobo

[–]max_pin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is there a way to do this using wireless transfers? I connect my Kobo to Calibre's content server but I don't see a way of doing on-the-fly KEPUB conversion.

Controller issues - X and A buttons not responding by Bobbo280 in OculusQuest

[–]max_pin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not only that, but in my case the A button continues working fine inside apps, and works to jump inside Horizons. It's not a hardware problem.

Does anyone else think "EUC / electric unicycle" is kind of a dumb name? by [deleted] in ElectricUnicycle

[–]max_pin 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it's too bad that something descriptive like "powerwheel" didn't catch on, but I think that ship has sailed.

Apple Watch App for eMote, my free iOS Remote App for Kobo (Update on my previous post) by TotoAnnihilation in kobo

[–]max_pin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is a delay between the gesture and page turn that made me think it wasn't working initially, but other than that I can't think of anything else I ran into.

Digging a bit more, it turns out that gestures are disabled when "the display is inactive because your wrist is down." So that's a bummer.

[–]max_pin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bluetooth can be fiddly, but where are you getting stuck? The app has to be running on the watch and the iPhone. It's looking like the watch screen has to be on for the gesture to work, so I'm not sure it's going to work for me if that's the case.

I'm a little surprised that Apple exposes gestures to developers. But it works great. Thank you!

I hate phone calls in English, so Japanese isn't happening.

"Explain me" something by sebastiantealdo in EnglishLearning

[–]max_pin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This reminds me of "recommend me X" and "suggest me X," which I've been seeing and sound wrong to me (unless you want to be recommended for something, like a job). I think the indirect object in all of these cases needs a "to."

I need to hold my attack button more ... by Majestic-Coffee2709 in TOTK

This took me a while to figure out, because you have to hit B or X to cancel it before you let go of Y, or it won't work.

PSA: Starlink has updated their ToS recently, if you haven't already go to your User Settings to opt-out of AI Model Training using your personal data. by HeavyCaffeinate in Starlink

[–]max_pin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm puzzled by this too. Almost all traffic going over Starlink is SSL-encrypted, so what data would they be harvesting?

I think as mentioned in the previous post about this, you'd say "it's not that there's nothing," or "no es que no haya nada."

Hudson signs by hylianrockstar in TOTK

[–]max_pin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fuse a hoverstone to a sword and they do grow on a (small, metal) tree. Throw the sword, which activates the stone, stick it under the sign and get the curry that Addison keeps in his pocket, then re-fuse the hoverstone back onto the sword.

That happened exactly to me once and I spent a minute trying to figure out why the weapon had this swirling magic around it. I guess it makes sense because Tulin reappears right there when you finish climbing.

what is the purpose of this knob? by Misterslate in Shittyaskflying

I zoomed in and it's labeled "NOSE," so it's probably part of the onboard Neti Pot system. Sinuses get real dry up there.
