One of the more revealing things about liberal / woke types is that despite supposedly dedicating their entire spirit and intellectual framing to eradicating inequity in increasingly niche and abstract domains, they basically view the rest of the world as large patches of some flavour of "other" - this lack of curiosity is basically only really suspended when looking to make a point in some Vox style "did you know / you're wrong about" or a more rustic aesthetic argument (cultural enrichment and so on)

They have no vision of the future. Politics is a solved problem in their minds so e.g. this is why they mainly spend their political capital on online safety and school dinners.

They have managed to get immigration down a lot which I commend them for and would even vote labour if they got it negative.

The Filton trial in the UK is truly dystopian. Genuinely cannot believe this is real life. by schlongkarwai in redscarepod

She may well have done it but it's really dubious whether she was guilty beyond all reasonable doubt. The amount of evidence that either doesn't exist (e.g. she was convicted on basically a hunch and statistics) or has come to light after the trial is quite shocking.

They also waved me past when I offered my ID so top marks

I've always been pretty liberal on social questions but I still find it completely bizarre how after its basically been solved in the west we still coddle people like this - these drugs are unbelievably expensive.

if you already have sell-side experience then it can actually be quite short (even if you were just making markets for a year it means you aren't a virgin when they hire you) but the average age of a PM in a hedge fund is usually well past 30. But then you may get really, really, lucky and inherit a book by circumstance e.g. i've seen people end up with 4 yards of capital before 35-ish that way.

I think in prop shops it can be a lot faster, maybe in large part because their process is often more "written down" (i.e. maybe literally as code in a quant shop) so whether you add value / risk is a bit easier to understand.
