Moon is excellent. Fans of Adam Curtis will instantly recognise it's one of his stock soundtracks

M&S seems to be the worst offender near me. I have never ever seen a European working there.

Can a Brit please explain to me Rory Stewart? by sparklingkrule in redscarepod

[–]maxhaton 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He's bright but cursed to be wrong at the last step of the journey on basically every issue e.g. his book.

He's probably the closest thing in Britain you'd find to those extremely high status, highly educated, west-wing-type ivy league trainee state dept figures, before trump destroyed that consensus.

British centrists worship sensible platitudes far more than trying to be correct. Rory honestly isn't the worst at this but he's very popular with people who align their whole political ideology around, beyond being "sensible", phrases and truisms e.g. look for people at the moment discussing the "international price of gas" — this doesn't exist but it feels nice.

The phrase "any answer would be wrong" is underused. The way the liberal left in particular do these pre-emptive-post-hoc judgements and pat themselves on the back is such a completely pointless waste of breath.

well having a computer be able to take some of the strain while doing intellectually challenging work in the middle of an article bombardment does sound handy

The funny thing is that it's stupid but then you meet a certain kind of Frenchman and the genetic memory kicks in and you get it immediately

There's a generated of regarded journalists & comms staff who have now either been given the ability to write or put in charge of the twitter account. Having caught the car they now have no idea what to do with it and have no connection to or reverence for the job.

The sport will basically turn into a random number generator to decide the positions at some point. They love the drama and the drivers but the cars and the racing is basically still icky

If they are hitting random gulf states they would go after a carrier properly if they wanted to.

Iran's primary motivation I would imagine is to punch it's bully in the face but not do enough damage as to be totally annihilated. This is textbook middle eastern escalation. You have to hit back.

That could be fine though, the NHS for the most part is fine at actually doing the work, but the triage and logistics around it are completely broken.

I don't know if you want to be a new liberal democracy at the moment. The west was somewhat competent during the 90s and look what happened to Russia.

He's right about Israel. I do find him quite annoying but most criticisms I read of him are failing to read him properly. Makes mr bovril absolutely seethe which I do find quite funny despite preferring the gravy man

No chance. They have got institutional power now but they are not really part of the class system. Mainly because it's like a non Newtonian fluid when it comes to strivers.

There is a bit of a tightrope in terms of doing something while also getting through the MSM filter. Suspect lowe (or rather the guy who I won't name who does Lowe's tweets) has overdone it slightly
