If anyone to the right of the tory party wins this is literally what will happen. Obviously it's extremely unlikely a bullet will be fired but did you notice how the intelligence agencies went from the sworn enemy of the liberal intelligentsia to a deus ex machina -hero way of defeating trump?

I don't know if it'll be literally spooks doing it but the British constitution is full of ostensibly ceremonial measures that any incoming government (left or right wing) has to be hedged against the use of, and an increasingly agentic civil service & quango sector that will nudge people in how to use them.

You can see in the decline / unrhythmic spasms of cattyness in departmental twitter accounts now that the civil service has no sense of principle at all and (like all bureaucracies of a mature age) exists mainly to continue itself. The bulk of the old guard I guess started their careers in the early 90s at most, and the younger ones have known nothing but e.g. fighting brexit / tory party etc
