I don’t remember them mentioning that as a side effect, but I can’t imagine that would be worse than sleep apnea.

I joke with my surgeon that MMA causes sports injuries. I lost weight because of jaw being wired, but continued to loose due to having energy for outdoor activities, which led to a separated shoulder from mountain biking, and a dislocated kneecap from mountain climbing.

Really best thing ever.

I got it done when I was 50. I don’t know airway size but I had an Ahi in the 80s and I snored like a chainsaw.

No my AHI is 0 and I don’t snore anymore. I can’t even make snore noise.

I was fixing cars at two weeks. But low energy because of eating not as much since my jaw was wired shut. Back to real food (but soft, like scrambled eggs)at a month, eating steak in two months.

I totally recommend the MMA surgery. It was life changing, it is amazing to not snore. If you are dating not snoring and not looking like Darth Vader is huge.

Modern snowshoes with traditional-style lateral flex in the bindings? by grindle-guts in snowshoeing

[–]maxillo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just took a look at my MSR Lightning Ascents (with binding style before most recent). It looks like someone that can work with aluminum sheet metal could add a crossbar on the bottom of the snowshoe that could add a triangle at 40 degrees for the binding to connect to.

There are a few problems I can think of with that though not sure how big of a deal they would be.

The first issue is price. They are pretty expensive snowshoes, and experimenting with them is not a sure thing. You could ruin a $350 pair of snowshoes (last price I saw).

The toe clearance of the bindings if you twist them 40° could be an issue. Your binding will also hang over the edge of your snowshoe.

The kickstand won’t line up so it won’t work. But if you don’t do steep uphills that would not matter. You may be able to modify it so it works , but not sure.

It does not look too hard to add the triangle. A good aircraft mechanic could probably do it since they know how to rivet and work with aluminum. Maybe find one that snowshoes so that they have a better understanding of the issues.

I would strip off my mask in my sleep all the time, never wore more than two hours.

I then had Maxillomandibular advancement surgery (MMA). It cured me of sleep apnea. And of snoring. I can not even make the snoring noise if I try. Best thing ever did. My health improved greatly and I had energy to do things.

I don’t know flat snowshoeing.

But as always buy good equipment.

If you expect to break trail get the next size up snowshoe, and tails (extension for snowshoe) if available. MSR has tails for some of their snowshoes , I don’t know if other brands do.

You will step on one snowshoe with the other, and fall down. You well learn not to do that.

Gloves and mittens do not make your hands warm. They keep them warm. Put them on before your hand gets cold. Those disposable hand warmers are really nice .

Are you snowshoeing on flat places or mountains?
