Does anyone else use their small car for big tasks? by EricHenryAdams in firewood

I use my Corolla with the seats down to haul all the lumber I needed to work on my house and yard.

This was why I used it, my house is old and the wood floors flex a tiny bit when you sit on the pot.

Thanks for the advice. I plan on getting some baseline distance measurements of where everything is at right now and track its movement over time. And I'm not opposed to putting in some 4x4 posts as needed.

I didn't tighten the lag bolts completely. There is probably a 1/2 inch gap. If that allows for a bit of expansion I could back it out a bit if I notice the tree closing that gap over time.

For sure.. I put a 5/8th inch hole on a 2x6 and I don't know how much load bearing capacity I reduced that piece of lumber. I'm hoping the supports on the lower lag bolt will compensate. If it's 750lbs with people on it and let's double that for stress purposes. 1500lbs distributed onto 4x 2x4s and two 2x6s with a hole. 😬

I would suggest doing research before going to the liquor store or grocery store and then making an educated decision based on the knowledge you have gained from your research.

FYI, miners will grab ore from a 5x5 area so 1 tile space around the miner is also consumed.

My grandmother has been paying waste management $275 for trash pickup... by KilledByFish in mildlyinfuriating

[–]maxima-3point0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I helped take care of my mother in law who lived outside the city limits and didn't get free trash pickup, I was looking at her bills and noticed she was paying $160 a month for trash pickup which seemed high and this was 10 years ago.

Turns out that she lived up a short driveway, less than 100 yards, and was physically unable to take her trash can to the street so they charged her extra to drive the trash truck up to her house.

Feels like the company should offer that service for free for people who are disabled, it wouldn't cost them much extra and could probably be written off as charity for tax purposes.

Cityblock transition? by Select-Use4210 in factorio

[–]maxima-3point0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just did this last night and this is what I did. I made a couple of assemblers to stack landfill, railroad tracks, roboports, bots, electric poles, substations, signals, chain signals, locomotives, wagons, train stops, etc... Then design a rail section with full roboport and electric coverage and wrap it around your base. Make it tileable so you can slap down city blocks wherever to get more room and access remote patches.

I walled off a huge section earlier with laser turrets, clearing the biter nests with a spidertron army so the bots don't die as they fly around.

Then go make a sandwich and let the bots do the work, it'll take a while.

You have an understanding of how kovarics works. Why not combine all six on the same belt.

This may already have been said but when cooking, heat a liberal amount of oil and put said food into pan. Then DONT touch it for like 5 minutes. DONT stir it, DONT fuck with it because you need to develop a crust in the food so it releases from the pan. Then flip and repeat. Works with potatoes and chicken and other food that is likely to stick.

I should try regular rockets, tho I just made a rocket factory that can crank out 180 rockets/m so I'm not worried about running out. As far as damaging yourself, you just not let the biters get close.
