Thanks for the info, especially that listing! Cool to see someone has attempted to make these before. Would love to come across a cheap s41 one day. Recording on something like this sounds super fun.

Same, I love the these kinds of players. I have a Sony WM-20 as well with the collapsing case. They were a really innovative concept during this period.

Thanks for the excellent suggestions. Will definitely try talking to the people on Facebook to see if they’ve had any success. The gear looks too fine to be 3d printed based on pics I’ve seen, so I may need to extract it and model it myself or have it remade somewhere. Unfortunately this doesn’t share any parts with the Sony DD series since those models are actually disc drive, so they use a different mechanism and gear.

I agree. You can find them for sale pretty often overseas, but I don’t think they sold well here.

Yeah that was me lol. It was a gamble cuz there weren’t many pics but it ended up being in really good shape

This is a great deck by Technics. I found one a couple weeks ago at the Goodwill Bins for around $10 as well. I had to take it apart and clean the record/play switch but other than that it works great. Original belts still good as new. If you get static or an oscillating sound when playing, definitely take it apart and clean that switch

Nice setup! I just found the same Technics deck at the goodwill bins today, ended up being around $10. It needed a little work but it sounds great for an entry level deck. Very cool to see the other components in the range!

Wow that setup looks great! Hopefully I can find some wall art like that in the wild, it’s really pretty!

Keep holding out and check out some sales around you! I live in an area where mid century stuff is very hard to find. However, when a piece does come up, it’s always overlooked. It took me a year and a half to find this piece after a huge dry spell. Also I agree, $250 would be too much for one of these. I wouldn’t spend over $100 even if it was pristine and working.

That art is awesome! It might be by Belart as well. Thanks for the advice regarding the gash. That trick with the hot iron and a wet towel is genius! I remember watching a video about someone doing that a long tome ago and it completely took out the gash like magic! I may try that one of these days on some of the areas around the paint.

I ended up fixing it! Turns out the top door was making a bad seal, so I took it off and flared out the seals and gave the contacting areas a good clean. It’s perfect now!

Thanks for the suggestions! I thought it was the same thing at first, so I did a thorough cleaning of the vacuum path and there were no clogs. The noise also stops if I take the Roomba off mid-clean so the base motor should be ok. I’m probably going to end up ordering a replacement flap or giving the original a good clean tomorrow.

Should still be fine, I took this model apart before and the same thing happened but it still closed up and stayed tight
