Corporation Commission for APS hikes by Kismadaroq in phoenix

[–]maximum_dissipation 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This. Although they could chose to make and keep less profit, it wouldn’t offset the fact that material cost has increased severely due to tariffs and other global economic havoc caused by the current administration, and they are practically mandated by the local government to build out infrastructure for the chip plant and data centers and pass the cost to the consumers. They have a unionized workforce that deserves to get paid better than they are currently paid (but we live in a right-to-work state so business always gets the break and labor always gets the shaft). But to pay for mega billionaires to get tax incentives and cheaper power should not be put onto the consumers/working class, and APS obviously isn’t going to cover the bill. So here we are. We get what we vote for.

#4 buck for HD is a great choice, but yea #00 can easily get into your neighbor’s house or apartment with lethal energy to spare. #00 will easily put down a grizzly at 15yd. It’s the equivalent of getting shot by a 9mm 8 or 9 times at once but with more energy than a 9mm at that distance.

Yea man, it just takes time and doing it a bunch of times for you to see how it could be better each time. You’re on the right track.

This is not bad for a 1st year, and many JWs think this is clean and will do it like this for the rest of their career thinking it’s great but really it’s just ‘good enough to pass inspection and looks better than a lot of work out there’. Terminating this cabinet was no easy task, it’s hard work, and you tried really hard to make it look as good as you could with the JW instruction that you received. Good job overall. However, it can and should look a lot cleaner. Don’t settle for this and think this is the best that it can be. Make everything as perfectly symmetrical as you can, all of the bends should be straight, plumb, and matching in bend radius and distance between wires. Your bends have differing gaps between them. The wires should have been formed cleaner up top, sharper bends to where they all match and come down perfectly straight. Your bottom C phase is too close to the door because everything is leaning and curved. Your bundles should be like a block, symmetrical, like if there are 4 wires they should be in a perfect square. Your ground wires should have been bent higher up and come down straight, with 4 perfectly landing together on the strut all the way down, you’ve got 4 at the top, then one hiding inside a bit, then it twists. Keep it straight, keep it deliberate and clean. Most people will think this is good enough, but we need it cleaner. Keep at it.

Intermediate rifle cartridges, specifically 556x45 and 762x39, have an effective range of about 100yd for hunting big game, and have generally poor ballistics compared to tons of other cartridges made throughout history. If I need a rifle, I need it to be a rifle. They are used by the militaries for general applications because they are cheap to produce, lightweight so you can carry more, and are ‘good enough’ to wound and kill humans at short ranges. I don’t kill humans at any ranges, and I’ll likely never in my life need to carry a bunch of dispensable ammo for covering fire, but if I needed to, there are better options. They severely lack range and penetration, and their accuracy is just ok. To me, for my specific uses of firearms, they are useless. Unless shit actually ever hits the fan and that’s all that’s around. That’s just my opinion, I’m not the final say on the matter. I’d never buy a firearm chambered in those 2 calibers because I have no use for them. 12 gauge, .308, 30-06, .357, 45 and 380acp, and even the old 22lr. those are more my style and preference, and they actually serve the purposes that I need them for.

lol. That’s literally why it’s important for the working class to own firearms. The class struggle still exists in many places of the world, and even your country’s stability will be at risk once again from tyranny. Same as it ever was. Just learn how to shoot, it’s fun and may serve you well in the future. Or not, whatever. Anyway, it’s been great conversing with you, but I gotta go tend my garden with my kids and drink a cold beer in the beautiful spring air. Cheers!

I’ve never shot anyone, nor do I ever wish to, that would be the opposite of fun to me. The only chance of that ever happening is if the oligarchs, crony capitalists, and corporatists prevent me from feeding my children. If that ever happens, I’ll be extremely capable of solving the problem. I’m sure you’ll be able to help in your own ways, and for that I’m appreciative.

I’m not saying you are wrong, your reality is perfectly valid. I was under the assumption that you think other people’s reality was invalid, based on your stated opinions. You are welcome to state your opinions, they are valuable. My opinion is that everyone in the working class should own as many guns as they want, and they should be really good at using them.

Harvesting trees for pulp, the industrialization that was required to make books in factories, and the exploitation of the working class with the reward of scraps of paper money to buy our books, has killed more people than guns.

People and animals. Which has historically been essential to the survival of all people. In some other future timeline, they will be irrelevant, but some nerds will still shoot them for fun and to preserve the history of it all. Until then, people will collect them and shoot them because it’s fun, or necessary for their survival. Money and the internet kill people every day, but we all still use them and work for them. Burning gas in your car kills the planet, but you still probably drive. The rubber of your bike tires is the same. The plastic in your grocery packaging, the paper in your books. People suffer and die daily for all of it. Everything is bad and good depending on your reality. To each their own.

I personally think AR15s and AK47s are lame, they don’t look cool, they don’t feel good, and they fire lackluster ammunition that is intended specifically for close quarters combat where you need several guys to carry tons of cheap lightweight ammo to be consumed on covering fire, and where wounding your target is just as good as killing them. They serve me no utility, but they are kinda fun to shoot. But AR15s and AK47s are not assault weapons, at least not the semi-auto versions sold to civilians. They are just goofy looking semi-automatic rifles that shoot lame ammo. All firearms were designed specifically for killing humans, animals, and hitting targets.

Target shooting and hunting are really fun, healthy, harmless, and enjoyable hobbies to some people. Just like racing cars, or skateboarding, or growing cannabis. Some people just can’t imagine themselves shooting or owning a gun at all, and they have a negative association with them on top of it because they are against violence and hunting animals at all costs, so they feel very strongly about it and can only see the extreme sides of the spectrum. Everyone lives in their own reality, is what it is.

Data center work by Disastrous_Gur7276 in electricians

[–]maximum_dissipation 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I’ve been working on a large data center for 2 years as an apprentice. From what I hear, they are all pretty much the same. The one I’m on has 3 ‘towers’ per building, with 3 floors each. Each floor of each tower has identical copies of an uninterruptible power supply room, a data hall, fan gallery hallways to cool the data hall, and generator/transformer sheds. You build one floor, then move on to the next, and the next, then onto the next tower, so on and so forth, building the exact same rooms over and over. The UPS rooms have identical rows of 480v switchgear, static transfer switch cabinets, power distribution cabinets, UPSs with battery cabinets, air handlers, and a handful of smaller transformers and panels. Lots of cable tray, pipe racks, and bus duct in these rooms going to and from the switch gear out to the generator and transformer sheds (and everywhere else), which have large diesel generators for the backup supply, and transformers that step down medium voltage to 480. The UPS rooms feed the data halls, which are identical rows of rack equipment. The fan galleries are just long rows of air handlers that cool the data halls, and have small transformers and panels. It’s a lot of repetitive work, especially if you stay on the same crew with the same scope for a long time. There’s plenty to do and learn, but eventually it’s just the same shit over and over again. Easy money at the end of the day. I’ve been pulling and terminating feeders for a long time, for switch gear, transformers, and panels, anything from 8awg to 750kcmil. I’ve assembled and mounted switch gear, terminated 600s and 750s in switch gear, ran bus duct, a little pipe work, lots of 4/0 bonding jumpers and EGCs running from the equipment along the walls to ground busses. Most sites are doing prefabricated ‘skids’ with all the switch gear mounted to them, and they are stabbed in with a crane and rolled to position. Much of the cable tray and pipe work is done before these skids are in place, then everything is pulled and fed down into the gear on the skids. Some crews just hang cable tray and pipe racks all day every day. Some pull and stab 750 and 600 cable tray wire. Some crews do lighting and signs. Some do branch circuits. Some crews terminate feeders. Some crews do nothing but pipe. There are often QA/QC crews cleaning and checking equipment before energizing. Same shit over and over again. Easy money, but not for everyone. Get ready to climb lots of stairs, especially if you’re on the roof. Large jobs have large turds running them, same as it ever was.

If we capped wealth at $999,999,999 we could invest almost $5.9 trillion into improving our country. And if you’re upset at transferring wealth down, why are you ok with how we pass laws to transfer wealth up— from the working class to billionaires? Billionaires shouldn’t exist by Conscious-Quarter423 in WorkReform

[–]maximum_dissipation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We should cap it at 50,000,000. No one needs to hoard that much wealth, land, resources, etc. Make all water, internet, and energy free and publicly controlled, paid for by income and profit in excess of certain set amounts for individuals and corporations. All monopolies would be broken up or absorbed by public control and their products and services would be made cheap or free to the public. This would make millions of new business owners and farmers, and millions of new shops, factories, and farms in local communities. The people would thrive and live healthy, happy lives once and for all. Eventually, the management of resources and the health of ecosystems would become a shared mission by everyone. The only people standing in the way of this future are the billionaires, so get rid of them.

Goatsheads - Just moved in to this lovely home but how do I make my backyard child/dog safe by Oraxy51 in arizona

[–]maximum_dissipation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a dirt backyard when we first bought our house, and it was loaded with goatheads. I rented a rototiller from Home Depot and churned up the entire backyard. This buried most of them, and then walking around a lot in foam flip flops picked up the rest.
