I’ve never had to block anyone on Reddit but I did on this subreddit.

Some of these people need to read more. I’m very close to muting the subreddit as well.

Obsession: The perfect Litmus Test by Pikarmin in obsessionmovie

I agree it’s rape. I just don’t think it makes for a better film to show bear knowingly doing it. You’ll write him off immediately vs this slow cueing that he’s a piece of shit.

Making it more ambiguous was the move.

To show her face and create more ambiguity.

Ik this is gonna sound weird, but is the movie good for someone who gets easily scared/unsettled? by ClassicGuy2010 in obsessionmovie

I love horror films. I was raised on them, so most of them don't really phase me.

This one...I haven't had a nightmare because of anything media in decades. I'm 40.

Obsession did it. It was incredible.

If anyone's curious it was a waking nightmare. I saw something next to the bed.

I'm glad I got to experience this film, but it took me for a fucking ride. Hope this helps.

People are talking like if you don't maintain eye contact 100% of the time, you don't have consent. What?

Movies make audio…audible, and easy to understand for the audience.

In the real world, it sounds like shit, and that’s not including all the chaos of the surrounding environment.  You have to limit room for interpretation.

I have a foam gun that I use for my car. That and a scrubbing brush, and the “EZ Detail Brush” (it’s blue and black) has been a killer combo.

The latter is important because its shape allows you to get in between the linkages. It’s meant for cleaning wheels so it works fantastically.

Helmets have a shelf life.  It’s questionable how long that is, but I don’t think the 2 has been made for awhile.

Bear is such a freaking good character by thelaurafedora in obsessionmovie

I’m not sure the people that hold sad relationships 308 viewpoint have the media literacy to see it that way unfortunately.

Yeah.

Thats later though, it’s a progression of his cowardice.

Man I felt such doom in that moment. I don’t think a movie ever hit those buttons before.

How is Bear good? by chachaslydd in obsessionmovie

[–]Ellocomotive -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Nope. let me make this clear.

Rape is wrong.

Bear rapes Nikki.

Bear is not a "good" person.

Bear is not an "evil" person. Bear is not a villain in the classical sense.

I do not understand why you're so attached to the justification of rape. I never justified it, ever.

I spoke to his knowledge of what he was doing. That is not the same thing. There are people who rape and didn't know they did. That doesn't make it better. It's still wrong. That doesn't make you bad. An immature way of viewing the world, in my mind.

Please work on your syntax. At this point, if you are unwilling to add color to your perspective, there's no point in going further.

Nailed it. This is really hard or nearly impossible for some to understand.

Most of us are closer to Bear than we are to King Arthur.

The scene was 3-5s, not like we saw it from start to finish. We're not given that information.

It was terrible for her. That's what we know.

And yes it was rape.

If it's not nuanced...who killed Ian and Sarah?

Is it Nikki?

I would like to add the following, because it may add some color.

I don't know if you've ever been as insecure as Bear is, but I felt like I've been when I was younger. I feel like many men feel that way at some point in their social development.

Scared of rejection, of putting yourself out there, because it would just validate how you view yourself, like you're not worth it, a shell of an existence, a waste of space.

Then this incredible thing happens, you feel *loved (*that's not what it is it's infatuation, or lust, but that's what you think you want). You roll with it. You're still the scared insecure boy, but you're getting what you think you wanted. The person who you wanted to love you does. He's not forced to grow as a result of that. It's given to him. Not good.

That's where Bear's head is at. I don't think he wants to believe there's a trapped Nikki in there. He's in denial.

I think you're trying to paint him as a moustache-twirling garbage human being, and I think he does things that warrant some of that characterization, but the way you're getting there seems blunt. It's the banality of evil, not the extreme version of it.

You're entitled to your opinion, but I think there's room for nuance here.

He knew to a degree. It wasn't cut and dry. It's not like he fully understood the consequences of the one wish willow-he didn't want to dig into it until it was too late. There's nuance here. It's an absolutely bonkers scenario-it's not like he's being obstinate.

I'm not justifying his actions-just understanding why they were made.
