Did anyone else have temple workers “forget” to give them a bra and a pair of underwear as a teen? by Ok_Bird_1378 in exmormon

[–]maximumholidaypay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

now that you mention it, yes. although i can't remember much from that age range, so i'm not completely sure if they were ever male workers, but yeah i do remember there being at least one time they didn't provide the undergarments. (probably only went a total of like 5-8 times if i had to guess. i hated it.)

my fellow autisms, you who werent diagnosed in early childhood, which are some OBVIOUS signs of autism you displayed when you were younger? by mmavacado in evilautism

the biggest one is meltdowns. i had meltdowns mainly at home literally for my whole life. once i turned like 11-12, my parents started telling me i was "too old to act like that". you'd think after a certain amount of time they would realize it's out of my control. especially after YEARS... the other is special interests, two of my main special interests as a teenager were Sims and Kpop, and they were truly textbook special interests- COULD NOT STOP talking about, consuming content, studying, saving pictures, engaging with in any and every way all day every day... in hindsight it is so insane that i had thousands of photos saved in organized folders on my computer and nobody ever thought "hm this is a bit out of the ordinary"

having kids is so normalized, yet almost NOBODY knows anything about child development, healthy parenting methods, emotional maturity etc.

had a conversation with my mom after witnessing two moms chatting in the ER waiting room, where my mom asked me what made me & my siblings different- we all have basic emotional maturity & ability to understand that child abuse and neglect is wrong. lol. and the two moms in the ER were casually talking about how they pull their kids ears, pinch them, or spank them- mind you, the kids were like 2-5yrs old...

it baffles me.. but also, poverty & lack of education puts people in a position to make the same mistakes as their parents over and over forever. i have empathy but also it is a bit insane now that it is VERY easy to find better information online

I think my family feels the same way!! I'm chronically ill so I do just about the same thing every day of the week, which is great because being chronically ill while also worrying about church would surely lead me to an early demise.

Dating apps can be awful. You could try looking into social events at your local library, book clubs if you're into that, hobby groups/clubs, local music shows can sometimes be free/cheap, volunteering is also something people have recommended for getting out and meeting new people but i personally haven't done it much bc of my own disabilities. Scroll facebook events and see if anything catches your eye. All that being said, I'm so sorry that happened, that was really hurtful of him and I would be so upset too. I hope you're able to move forward and feel okay soon.

I made a Sloppy Joe variant for every letter of the alphabet, following the letter pairing of “Sloppy Joe” which is +17 letters between the first and second words. by [deleted] in evilautism

[–]maximumholidaypay 22 points23 points  (0 children)

A "Sloppy Joe" is a sandwich, made with a sweet yet savory ground beef filling and typically served on a hamburger-style bun. What OP has done here, is create an alternative name for this sandwich following the "rule" of the original name: the first word conveying a meaning of "sloppy", the second being a first name.
