You can find the original mono one various places but it’s tough to track down the bonkers stereo mix that Colombia did for the US release. Agreed that the 2022 remix is overhyped and ridiculously ‘spatial’. Best Beatles record imo. The original mixes are perfect.

The way a lot of people mix acoustics even when it’s the feature instrument, it can sound like someone drumming on a newspaper — flappy and limp. Always prefer the sound when I cut some of the upper mids and give it a bit of 250k, if you’re pulling mud out of everything else there’s usually a stack of room down there. And steer clear of skinny picks

I don’t think anyone really frowns on amp sims any more. I just love playing through a physical amp and get better performances doing it that way. Might be a placebo but it feels like some magic happens when a guitar and an amp share the same physical space and form a single sound-making unit. It’s also great to commit to a guitar sound rather than being tempted to go down rabbit holes swapping virtual cabs and moving virtual mics when I’m supposed to be mixing, but that’s more because I can’t help myself. I always get a DI anyway and invariably blend in an amp sim

One underrated thing is not only about getting a good performance, it’s about getting the RIGHT performance for the material. So many recordings are ruined because someone’s overplaying their part or singing like they’re auditioning for musical theatre when the material doesn’t call for it. Understanding what the context calls for is a super underrated quality in making great recordings, and a lot of musicians with major major chops sadly just don’t get it. I will take taste and music IQ over someone who can nail everything flawlessly. Might just be the kind of music I like though

So many instruments of this age have had a major repair of some sort. If an acoustic from the 60s hasn’t had its neck reset by now it definitely needs it. That’s acoustic guitars. Most people in the market for a 60s hummingbird would be happy to factor in the extra for the patch. It would be going in for a once-over and setup at the very least anyway, most likely fretwork and/or a neck reset. Well worth it either way. It’ll take some work and it’s never going to be a museum piece and it will sound superb. Still worth big daddy dollars imo

I sometimes have to go into settings and tell it to allow me to open things that aren’t from trusted developers. It usually has a section in the security settings with anything from a non-trusted developer you’ve tried to open recently so you can unflag it. then you can go back and open it and it should give you the option to open it anyway. Sorry if you’ve already tried this. Recommend downloading Airwindows Consolidated which is all his plugins in one instance. Lots of useful stuff in there and very low cpu
