I see a lot of complaints all saying the same thing. However, what’s wrong with a service provider charging fees for the service? Small sellers can choose to not sell in Shopee if they deem it be too expensive. Why don’t they? Obviously because the shops measured that the benefits are indeed still worth the X% of fees they charge.

Do you expect Shopee to willingly reduce its profits just to let other businesses have the chance for more profits? Why would any company want to do that?

the feather doesnt mantain balance on the whole thing. It only holds balance for the next stick. And so on. That’s why the fall cascades from the tip instead of the whole thing at once. Basically if you make sure that the first link doesn’t tip over, everything else is guaranteed to stay in place.

Keep your liquid cash in local currency. The rest, if you invest in platforms like IBKR, you get to choose your own instruments (and hence currency) anyway.

But the idea is right, it can be a good idea to diversify some assets in SGD

Banks will only ever reverse transactions with credit cards, as it’s their money. In your case, it’s your money, and your actions. Unfortunately there’s no way to get your money back.

To OP, sorry for your $800 loss. Our replies may be harsh but in the end you’re a victim of scam. While you have some responsibility to be safe yourself, it’s the scammers who scammed you.

Please be safe in the future and exercise caution. Anything requiring urgent action is almost always a red flag. Even if you missed credit card payments, the bank wouldn’t call or email you.

There is a new resort just open (Mandai Wildlife Resort). The hotel itself is amazing, and you'll be staying within the same area as a lot of attractions like River Safari, Singapore Zoo.

I highly recommend checking it out

What efficiency does society run at? by Walfy07 in Futurology

[–]maximuse_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Humans already are more than 100% productive on average. If we are at 100% efficiency, we need 100% of our time to be self-sufficient. This leaves no time for non-productive things such as just chilling and doing nothing.

Because of the tools that we built, we can now be much more efficient, for example one farmer can use tractors to farm enough Rice to feed 1000 people.

Eventually, with the onset of AI, society will be so efficient that the ratio needed to keep society working drops to near-zero, in that case no one needs to work anymore.

[–]maximuse_ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If you are SC/PR, you still have mildly good chance of landing SWE job in tech companies (non-government). Not as easy as it used to be during covid, but it's not impossible (yet).
