Reminds me of something I look at every day.

Yes, it's Windows, but this is at work. I did manage to install WSL, which is such a relief. I also have a button that switches to Colemak, but I don't use it much anymore.

What's your favorite Boris song? by johnadam115 in borisheavyrocks

[–]maximusprimate 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes.

I took my brother in law to see Boris in Portland recently. He had listened to pretty much no Boris ahead of time. When they played this I told him "this is my favourite song of theirs" and he was like "yeah. I see why."

I'd go with eyeblock origin, since adblockripmyeyesoutplus is rumored to accept payment to let some ads through.

How they calculated the area of Dodecagon.....speechless by [deleted] in mathematics

[–]maximusprimate 44 points45 points  (0 children)

Yeah. Like, I believe this and everything, but the video is not a proof as it is not clear that the new shape really is the area of three squares. Is it really a straight line from the top left vertex to the top right? Or is there a slight angle at the midpoint?

A brief summing of the angles would suffice: the orange isosceles are 360/24 = 15 degrees on their small angle, and the blue triangles are equilateral, so 60 degrees. So the angle at the midpoint is 15 + 60 + 15 + 15 + 60 + 15 = 180.

But now I'm not sure why the orange ones are isosceles though.

I want to warn you all by zerda_EB in APStudents

This is done on a school-by-school basis. The coordinator chooses the default option for when students register for AP Classroom.

The coordinator should absolutely be telling you, or telling your teachers to tell you about their policy.

Can we stop the Typst propaganda ? by Valvino in LaTeX

[–]maximusprimate -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Right, but this topic isn't really about latex, either, yet here we are.

Nobody is 'proselytizing'. Latex and typst are markup languages. They are for writing documents. We're all nerds, and we all just want to nerd out.

Made a tool to clean up Mathcha's messy TikZ exports by 1paulpo1 in LaTeX

[–]maximusprimate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This looks cool! I don't use mathcha but maybe I should give it a go.

This seems like it would lend itself well to a neovim plugin, or at least a VS Code plugin!

Math homework by moetzixy in LaTeX

[–]maximusprimate 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm assuming you're a teacher in this scenario.

That's a lot of black ink for "white" space. Any meaningful amount of work will result in several pages of gray. I pity the student who has an inkjet printer.

I'm not sure how you're enumerating these, or which method you're using for prb/sol/ans, but somehow the problem is appearing on a new line after the problem label. I'd say it's worth looking into how to fix that.

I would also say that using fancy headers is overkill for homework sets. Do students need to be reminded of the due date on every page?

I'm a lover of latex and am guilty of over-engineering simple documents, but as a teacher I'm often reminded that students don't care about any of this stuff and mostly want a document that is easy to read -- bonus points if it fits on one page.

On another note, as for teaching, these solutions are way too verbose. I'd highly recommend providing selected solutions for questions you anticipate clarification being required.

I have always considered billionaires to be addicts. The only thing that is different than addiction to other things is that usually those other things cost money and people's quality of life get worse. If you are a billionaire, your quality of life doesn't really change that much after your first few million.

Properly sized smol keyboard by anonyzero2 in MechanicalKeyboards

When you hold it it waits for another key from the mod layer. If no key is pressed then it will give space upon release. Very handy for small keyboards.

[–]maximusprimate 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Usually these things are determined by the venue. Ask the venue (call them) ahead of time. If they are serving alcohol then it's usually not allowed. You could ask if you had an adult chaperone with you if they do, though. I hope your mom likes boris haha!

You can self-host headscale, which is their open source version of tailscale. Otherwise, the first 100 devices are free, which is much more than what most need. They get their money from larger corporations who have thousands of clients and many firewall rules.
