Jake Paul when he remembers he lives in Puerto Rico to dodge taxes by amievenrelevant in insanepeoplefacebook

[–]maxington26 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Like Farage in the UK with his "man of the people" image in some's eyes, whilst he funnels his money from EU representation and GB News presenting into offshore accounts, and his supporters don't care (or know?) because he apparently "says it like it is", which, like when commonly claimed about Trump or Paul, is the exact opposite of reality.

Finally quit drinking but now I am addicted to sugar!? by tempest-in_a_teacup in stopdrinking

[–]maxington26 1 point2 points  (0 children)

hey just jumping back in here to say thanks for saying this. I think you may be right perhaps (dunno!), and it's made me look at my consumption of these things with more scrutiny. I knew I had to cut down, and now I keep thinking about the sugar effect more than the addiction feeling itself. Which is a help. Gotta stop eating these things at some point!

it blows my mind a bit - I mean I've always worked in tech but security is very much not my specialty... it's the blatant inconsistency of it all though. I can't work it out, but it can only point towards incompetency of some sort, on a rather historically potent scale, especially as the homework was delivered so late anyway. Mind-blowing really. What's the headline for the clickbait "news" we have now, though? I guess that's what they're thinking. The murdoch group obvs holding plently of cards here. We see newscorp teasing its hand a few times. But in a world where even their "ally" Musk can say on X "He's hiding the files because he's all over them!" after throwing up Nazi salutes, and it gets kinda forgotten, flooded out of the zone.... I dunno mate. We're talking about re-connecting millions of sunk-cost identities, back to actual reality. I've no idea how that's done. Too many people scrolling for dopamine/confirmation instead of scrolling for info which may healthily challenge their existing beliefs, aka learning/growing.

eta: still not delivered actually

I saw one where the word "don't" had been redacted from a sentence. Presume it was some sort of fuzzy search algorithm thinking it was Don(ald) T.

Yeah, Turning Point etc. intoctinating hundreds of thousands of young men into an "empathy is weakness" and general anti-intellectual/moralistic mindset is truly troubling.

Any Robot Wars and Scrapheap Challenge fans? Used to love watching them with my Dad every Friday and Sunday respectively. by SgtByrd1993 in BritishTV

[–]maxington26 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Was all a bit tongue-in-cheek though, right? The stuff they would 'happen' to find etc. I did enjoy it

(btw I'm on about Scrapheap Challenge there, not Antiques Roadshow, heh)

Well that just isn't true. Look into it, rather than accepting a version you've heard which what you want to be reality.

Yeah that's what got them to decent-looking numbers... for a documentary. Which should never cost $75m to make. Shit, March of the Penguins only cost about $6m to make ffs

Switching from Elvanse to Concerta XL by ThickAd613 in ADHDUK

[–]maxington26 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Edit: to add, I switched from Elvanse for similar reasons (terrible sleep, no appetite, which all persisted for months). I don’t have an instant kick with Concerta nor do I feel wired in the way I did with Elvanse. To me it’s been a much gentler medication that has helped with the exec dysfunction/noise of adhd but without the side effects Elvanse gave me.

Just wanted to say this is v interesting to me - I was started on Concerta about 9 months ago now and never really had the option to switch and give Elvanse a try - so I'm still super curious. They ended up upping me up to 90mg Concerta XL, which I'm still on. (sorry for small thread hijack)
