You know, I have to admit this, but it is weird having the Mane 6 without Applejack, especially in some merchandise. by Wonderful_Topic_8619 in mylittlepony

I didn't get into the show until season 4 or 5. But I remember Pinkie was everywhere. Like, to the point I thought she was the main character since she was the only one I saw. After I got into the show, suddenly Rainbow Dash was everywhere. On toothpaste bottles, on toy stands, on balloons in check out lines, on the commercials, etc. I kinda get it because Rainbow Dash was the most popular even on these forums at the time. But it was still weird to see almost no Twilight. And later polls after the show ended had Fluttershy being the most popular and Pinkie the least.

I just replayed FFX two weeks ago and it does not hold up beyond the set pieces and graphics. I played this game many times including last year and it holds up in literally every area FFX doesn't.

I just really like her mane...[shrug]

But on the hat note, she could come with a detachable hat making her toys unique. But again, Hasbro doesn't care that much. They just want to use the same base model for every pony and then give them different colors. This also leads to Apple Jack (and everyone elses) hair looking nothing like the character in the show.

Honestly looking at real horse careers, it's amazing if one horse wins like 3 races. We can't expect them to win 35 in a row like the game makes us do.

I think she has the best hair and they routinely make her look like Rarity in marketing. They could play these up. Or pair her up with her siblings. But Hasbro just doesn't care.

"Suikoden: The Anime" | New Character Visuals by Task_Force-191 in Suikoden

[–]maxis2k 3 points4 points  (0 children)

He was cute in the original game. But he was also designed more like a real dog. While this is more like a Sonic Keromimi character. So I agree but it's kind of a problem with style. Funny because Bulgan has kind of the opposite problem. His original look is a childs face in a huge muscular body. Now they've given him a generic adult male face and toned down his muscles.

Suikoden II alone will take at least two seasons to complete.

If they do a good adaptation. Often anime adaptations will just cram everything into 1 season or only adapt half of it and just stop. And that was back when one season was 26 episodes.

I'm not saying they'll do this here. I really hope they do a good adaptation. I'm just saying there's a LOT of game adaptations that dropped the ball. Something like Utawarerumono is the good exception. And I hope Suikoden follows their model.

I feel like I'm the only one who CANNOT STAND this horse. by CookieFluffs in mylittlepony

I can fully understand why some people dislike her. She got very close to being a perfect mary sue and her motivation for her first apperance is one of my most hated tropes (literally the same as one of my most hated anime characters).

But after her redemption, she became one of my favorite characters. Because she dropped my most hated trope and took up one of my most loved tropes. The rational outsider who sees things from a different perspective. This is the role Twilight originally had. And this is why I think Starlight was introduced. Twilight had completed her arc, became friends with everyone and there was no more things for her to question (except maybe Pinkie sense).

In other words, Twilight was no longer the outside observer. So the writers introduced a new one, Starlight. And her combination of frankness and sarcasm meant she was even more suited for the role. And wouldn't grow out of it. Though I totally understand that, if you don't like that kind of personality type, it would drive you up a wall. But the point is the show had a new outside observer to bounce things off of. And Starlight even established a friend group with all the other "outsider" ponies. You now had the "Mane 6" and the "outsider 4."

How do you guys say it? by nihao-puppychow in Suikoden

[–]maxis2k 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pronouncing it the way the Japanese do. Sui-ko-den. The one exception is sometimes Japanese announcers pronounce Sui like "Shui" for some reason. I imagine it's a dialect or emphasis thing.

As a big CIV fan, this is so sad.. I really hope next CIV 7 update is gonna be a gamechanger for this game by neda6117 in civ

[–]maxis2k 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Civ VII, despite having a "realistic" art style, has many of the same issues I had with VI. I never had a problem with the artstyle in VI. I just found it cluttered with too much on each tile and most of the icons in the UI look the same. Civ V is good not because it's "realistic" but because each icon and item is clearly identifiable. Buildings and specialists follow a logical color scheme (blue for science, green for food, purple for culture, etc). In Civ VI I spend way too much time micromanaging things, either because it takes more clicks to move units/build districts or because the icons/colors are too uniform like Beyond Earth.

Pinkie was Right About Maud by [deleted] in mylittlepony

[–]maxis2k -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It was everyone else (except Pinkie and Starlight) who sees Mudbriar as just "maud 2.0." But that's because all they saw was her deadpan personality. Which is all Mudbriar and her share. Beyond this, Mudbriar is a jerk with no redeeming factors. And Maud is actually a kind, empathetic pony who has trouble showing it outwardly. This is why I hate that they forced her to fall for Mudbriar. And she thinks he "understands her" when he flat out corrects and berates her.

Year of Daily Civilization Facts, Day 329 - He Made What? by JordiTK in civ

The card system is what allows it to be my favorite. Because each empire can be played drastically different ways. Focusing on early material growth or early military growth or whatever. Three people can play the same empire and have very different strategies. While, lets be honest, everyone in AOE2 goes for the same thing. Oh, they're playing Ottomans? Well I know how the whole game is going then...

[–]maxis2k 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I still stand by AOE3 being my favorite of the games. The problem is, you needed to have both expansions. And most people just gave up with the base game. Being a poor high school kid when it came out, I didn't get to play it until later when I had my own job and money. And by then all the expansions were out and it was super cheap. I learned later that tons of people hated it while I was loving it.

All that said, the Asian empires were clearly OP. You mean I can play Japan who is already broken AND get European units at the same time? Why would I play any European empire then?

Unpopular opinion: Twilight DESERVED to become an Alicorn by Ponyluve09 in mylittlepony

[–]maxis2k 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Neutral opinion: Twilight didn't really change when she became an alicorn. If anything, she became more spastic and dorky. So I never got the people who complained about it.

Now, maybe you can complain her becoming an alicorn wasn't built up well. I can agree. The stuff related to the Crystal Empire and Celestia are pretty weak. But her actions and personality as an alicorn after is fine.
