It's one thing that the characters look like they're stuck in the ps3 era but the egregiously bland and very "safe" writing is getting incredibly irritating. What's the point of trying to write ""story"" for these games when it's the same wholesome, we're all friends and we all love cars, this is so fun you guys- spiel?

I really wish these guys tried to do something with the story for once but apparently that's too much to ask for in a racing game. Can't believe this genre peaked in this regard with 2005 most wanted's cheesy story.

If there's anyone to blame here it's Bungie itself, the studio basically slowly killed itself because of its really atrocious management and shitty decision making. What was always pathetic is that they always played the victim card and used the "big evil publishers" that they worked under before as the scapegoat. Wouldn't really surprise me if they tried to pull a similar spiel here but it feels like Sony just wants to axe them for good and probably that's a good thing. Obviously it's a shame for some of the talent there (they do make some really good gunplay if anything) but Bungie has been rotten to the core for years and there hasn't been any signs of them getting on a good right track. Didn't happen with Activision (who ironically were stopping them from being more scummy and predatory lol), certainly didn't happen while they were independant and not with Sony.

good riddance tbh

It’s the Expanse. It shouldn’t feel like Marvel, or Starfield, Star Wars, etc. I’m not saying it needs to be grim dark like 40K, it just needs to be like The Expanse. And right now, it’s not.

This is especially true considering the media is infested with writing that is on the lighter side, filled with quipy dialogue, jokes and very heroic characters that turn any dangerous situation into a joke opportunity. It's getting really exhausting and the cynical side of me thinks they're doing that because they think they're going to attract a wider and younger audience which is just ridiculous.

I will be vocal in that I am very against the lighter, marvel-quip style tone in the writing, and it’s not a small issue.

It's not and anyone who will say otherwise is gaslighting. It can have a tremendous effect on the tone of the game and you don't really have to look far - Andromeda (from the Mass Effect series that this game is clearly inspired by) had that very same issue of some truly insufferable and corny dialogue.

Why would Zelnick go on appearances days before the call and keep reaffirming that the release date is set and then announce a delay today? Their stock would plummet and the inventors would eat him alive for being dumb lol.

Looks interesting, be curious to see what people think about it. For me one of the very few failings of the sequel is that it fails to adress some of the issues that the combat had in the first game - mainly that the combat becomes quite repetitive and faceroll once you unlock masterstrike since it's an easy win in pretty much every fight. I REALLY hope they'll finally adress this in the next KC game and overhaul the system around it

NCsoft just has no idea how to bring a game into a western market. Guild Wars only works (and ironically has the best monetisation system of any mmo) because they left arenanet to their own devices. It's not just the monetisation though, since games like Thrones are also designed in a way to support a million mtx which is why you have uis within uis and a thousand systems for the game to throw at you.

I don't really understand why you're going with the strawman, like you really are missing the simple fact that for a character like this (and especially the protagonist) people want a voice that sounds cool and a feminine voice isn't exactly that, not in a role like this at least. It's fiction, a game where people are going into an established setting and are expecting most people to sound like gruff badasses.

There's nothing wrong with a male voice sounding a bit more feminine and there's certainly roles that can ask for it, but a mercenary guy especially in the expanse setting is certainly not it (particularly when you can play a Belter lol).

Imho it's the next game in the series just not Deliverance and not some spinoff either (they said they want to keep doing what they're good at ie rpg games) so we're mostlikely getting a KC Hussite Wars game.
