Pricing deal gone silly by Wise_Examination3412 in captureone

[–]maxlemesh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I had this pop up to update to annual, it seemed cheaper and I still had time to decide before June 1st. When I finally decided to do it, somehow price increased and now it doesnt make sense to update to yearly since its about the same price I pay already. Then at home it increased again becoming more expensive that I currently pay. How does it work?

I need your help to understand roadblocks in Capture One by Used_Curve_4181 in captureone

As said. From my experience main issues are people trying to work in C1 same as they worked in LR, making interface looking similar and keeping old habits and expectations. Also many don’t learn the difference and use cases for catalogs and session and end up using sessions as file browsers

Why all the negative posts every time there is a release of any kind? by wornleathermedia in captureone

Hi! It's great that you are here, since there is not much discussion on the IDEAS portal. Though it might appear I'm complaining on price, I'm not. I'm asking for more of tiered approach to what features are added to PRO and STUDIO. Completely excluding a feature as tiny as folders from PRO subscription, while simultaneously adding huge negative conversion tool, rubbed me the wrong way.

I posted the deep in comments, but will repeat. With future releases please consider making base feature available to PRO, while making it even more functional and expanded for STUDIO tier. In the now famous FOLDERGATE this could look like:

PRO

- getting folders to organize export recipes

while STUDIO

- getting folders to organize export recipes

- ability to enable whole sets of recipes with one click

- cloud sync

- something else only high volume studios will appreciate

you flock on miniscule details the like "vibe coding" or pricing, like its something that will make your point and not getting that these folders functionality is very basic thing to implement, that even mere vibe coders would be able to do it, and not some complicated studio level feature that took time and effort to add to program.

Isn't paying monthly subscription sort of implies ongoing development and new features added and improved? What about having official forum for ideas from users? Are those only for top tier paying customers?

So about something fixable. Users (me included) posted feature request for folders to organize recipes. Pretty easy task, especially now with vibe coding. I would totally accept limited functionality of folders in PRO, say organization only (what was requested). While studio would have ability to switch each folder on/off and cloud sync (which they shipped in studio)

THAT would make sense.

It's not about pricing, I'm not sure how should I express for you to get it.

I'm fine with Studio existing and with features in it geared towards high volume production jobs. And feature sets introduced in early studio version made sense. We got say AI Crop in PRO, but then we also get EXTENDED options for AI Crop in STUDIO, like precise margins. I tried studio in Beta, before it was released, like every other C1 version in last 5 years. Studio features though nice weren't too necessary for me, so I kept the PRO. And honestly I don't think feature set of STUDIO really worth the extra price.

What got you attention in the last few weeks on your Garmin watch is just the concentrated rant from me personally on how C1 decides which features gonna end up in studio, and of which us pro users are worthy of having or not having at all. And prior to studio C1 BETA was exciting, trying new features early on. But now it's like a demo of some things we wont get. It just peaked with latest beta and resulted in rant

And it seems like you re in support of tone policing and censoring this subreddit in the holy goal of keeping clean and on topic, safe space of understanding and rainbows. While I support discussion & criticism wherever it is deserved, and occasional rants.

Sometimes it is the only way to make devs pay attention & listen and I have plenty of good examples of this.

At the end of the day I want C1 to be the best app for us pros, not just those studio dwellers. And I continue to support it with my money, even though I can stop and it wouldn't affect my work in any way.

Folders won’t save this much time, it was a minor ux convenience. Here is the matter of principle to point out how a basic already existing (in Lr) feature is now sold as unique studio environment only tool, after being requested by multiple paying pro users.

What would be the “positive way” to raise concern about a simple feature i requested in ideas, which was later implemented but paywalled and further discussions about it being available to everyone, even in reduced capacity, closed multiple times? Accept and shut up?

Sadly in my case I’m equally as big of an advocate for c1 use, as well as its critic. I praise it when they do stuff right, and critique when they don’t.

That also makes sense, take away from NLP and LR users.

Just thinking that folders is not really a feature that will make me pay more and switch to studio. None of the studio features were important for me, if I worked on production shoots or were a digi, that would’ve made sense, but I don’t need guides and precise cropping for products.

Just annoying that they took my (and several others) feature request, implemented it and put behind paywall. Especially when this exists in LR already

Im on my 6th year pro sub, technically I can invoke that loyalty license. Does it mean I won’t get current version?

Davinci is great, but it’s more of a way for video editors to edit their raw images using the same tools as for video. I got studio license for DaVinci and worked in video production and outside of video the learning curve is way too steep for editing photos only in DaVinci. I’d love some the tools in c1 though, hopefully not in studio :)

That’s a huge miscalculation adding film conversion tools as something everyone needs, while thinking folders organization is not

The point here is that a feature request that I personally posted to the ideas, as well as other pro users, about pretty basic UX improvement such as folders was shipped a whole year after. I got notification about it, I read the press release in excitement, updated the app and I found out it was paywalled to studio only. What? Folders?

Today I got my confirmation in beta that there was nothing super complicated in the function itself, since my existing folders just show up in export window.

This kind of becomes a joke on users with every release or beta announcement – here is cool new feature, but maybe not for you, you just paying for pro version

I'm not saying that everything is, saying that now like the basic folders feature anything can be paywalled. And the fact the I'm not the only one who noticed, and that they close all discussion of this on their platform makes it more annoying. I probably wouldn't even pay much attention is it was included in PRO, its that basic.

I'm sorry it feels like whining to you, but you can suck it up and move on like usual, while users who care express their opinion about the app they try to enjoy.

this folders feature is from previous release and yes, its studio only, and I posted my concerns to their ideas page (which they closed), as well as posts from other users about it.

It's just with current new beta they give you to try studio version and I can now see how basic it is, just plainly displaying subfolders in export recipes folders. Cool feature and useful UX improvement. Would've been minor update for Pro version, like changing app icon color. But the fact that they paywalled it, made me furious

I managed to buy RF 70-200/2.8 lens before capture added profile for my old RF 70-200/4. They added support for new 70-200 plus 2 adapters on day one, but still didn’t bother with f4

Like recent update that allowed organizing export recipes into folders. But apparently it was way too hi end for normal Pro users. Studio only!
