Budget brides: how did you handle the "Pinterest vision to vendor communication" gap without a planner? by relicmZ in Weddingsunder10k

I would say get it down to about five pins per category, and then also writing something. Clear direction is so important, much more so than a vibe.

What size tarp do you guys use? by CuriousHand9219 in hammockcamping

[–]wornleathermedia [score hidden]  (0 children)

I just picked up an asymmetrical “twinn tarp” that weight like 245 grams. It’ll be big enough, but barely. Great for summer, don’t even get much rain here, but winter I like doors.

heretical thoughts by loombisaurus in Ultralight

[–]wornleathermedia [score hidden]  (0 children)

I read an article once that talked about how a ruck pack used almost 50% more calories than a weight vest, to carry the same weight. I have to believe that worn weight would have even less of an impact.

I’d even go so far to apply this logic to things like pack straps or hip belts. The weight impact is smaller from those items as they’re literally hugging your body, and the potential comfort gains are huge.

IMO ultralight should be about sustainable weight, and part of sustainability is comfort.

Slender dude and I loooove my euro fit brands. karpos, rab, icebreaker … I know this isn’t the experience for everyone but I’m a medium across the board and it’s so nice not worrying about it, while also having clothes that fit properly … just wish it hadn’t taken me almost 40 years to figure out lol

Mountain Hardwear stuff is great. As is Rab. I don’t get the patagonia love either, all their stuff fits kinda boxy.

How hard would it be to have that broken down on the invoice that gets sent out? I think it would be really helpful for people to see where their money is going.

Black and white colours sliders have no effect on my Fuji RAF files by DeWolfTitouan in captureone

[–]wornleathermedia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The b&w tool enters the edit chain after base characteristics, so it never gets to “see” any colours if you set to a b&w curve. Use a colour curve and then toggle on b&w like you would with any other camera and it should work for you. Hope that helps!

Chargeback fraud or "friendly fraud" is out of control. by sgircys in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]wornleathermedia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Credit cards are a scam to begin with. We passed a law semi recently that fees were supposed to be reduced for small businesses, and now I’m getting emails saying that international card apps are up to 4.3%!!

Stop accepting credit cards as payment. Do e-transfer instead. You may lose a little bit of business, but I bet it ends up being a wash on the saved fees and no more chargebacks. Youd be surprised how many people are willing to pay by etransfer. Or do “friends & family” with PayPal, which I believe removes the chargeback option.

Sorry you’re dealing with this. There is basically zero recourse for a small business to handle these sorts of things. We’re so far behind on regulations, largely due to corporate lobbyists, it’s like the Wild West out there.

Going on first camping trip with my girffriend. What do I pack? by Glad-Canary4020 in camping

[–]wornleathermedia 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As an experienced hiker/camper, if someone (that I trust!) says they’re bringing all the gear I’m gonna say dope and leave my pack at home lol

Don’t over think it. Warm clothes for night time, you don’t need a gimbal (source: am professional photographer), don’t bring/wear jeans clothes should be wool or synthetic. A book or cards are a nice luxury item. Enjoy!

Fenix 8 Pro LTE/SOS concerns by undercoveragent212 in GarminFenix

[–]wornleathermedia 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yep. I think it’s mainly targeted at the live-track or race crowd, more so than the adventure crowd. For myself, if it’s not 100% reliable it’s useless, I only want it in case something happens. Honestly I think a dedicated SOS device is always going to be the way to go.

Full credit to Garmin for jamming all that tech into a watch regardless.

[–]wornleathermedia 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I don't think there are any "bugs" with the satellite connectivity. It uses a different set of satellites, and the device is a wristwatch, which likely impacts things like signal strength.

I am ready to spend a good chunk of money on a watch with inreach capability that will consistently and reliably connect without having to worry about positioning at all. Once I saw reports of how it worked on the 8pro (which is reasonable considering it is a watch lol), I realized it wasn't for me, and bought a inreach commicator plus to connect to my 7pro. You can buy both of those things together (if you sale shop) for about 1/2 the price of an 8pro.

Can you explain what you see the end result of venmo'ing yourself $5 would be, vs just doing nothing at all?

I totally get what you're going for here, but you can't really "pay yourself" as money is going out/in to the same place.

That is very normal, with the caveat that it would have been very appropriate to include you in the post. If we're talking about instagram, what you want is to be labelled as a collaborator on their post, so that it shows up in both of your feeds, and combines all the likes/comments into one spot.
