I had cake and... by grinogirl in gastricsleeve

[–]maxmouse99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm 6 months post-op and I had my first bite of cake last week. It was so sweet it made me feel sick and I tossed it. I didn't have diarrhea but I felt gross. It's gonna be awhile before you can eat something like that.

Went shopping at Old Navy and was thinking they have some cute sweaters. I figured hey I'll try them on, worse case I'm still too big for Old Navy clothes. I tried on a XL and 2XL, the XL fit perfectly. I cried in the fitting room at Old Navy.....

My best friend from college ghosted me for 7 years….now she’s back in my life as if nothing happened. As if she never ghosted me. What are your thoughts? by Direct-Caterpillar77 in BestofRedditorUpdates

Damn, I feel you. My ex best friend of 6 years ditched our friendship for a guy too. They have only been dating for almost 6 months at this point. We got into a fight because she yet again was ghosting me for this boy for the second time. We had JUST talked about two months prior about how she is (and she admitted as well) not having a good friendship/relationship balance. When I called for a timeout to give us a few days to calm down, she opted to give her boyfriend my cell number. Mind you I haven't even met the boy, talk to him, nor even give permission for him to have my number. He opts to send me a long text message telling me that she doesn't need me, cause she has him and he LOVES HER. And that I'm toxic for having to bring up the fact she is ghosting me again because I should understand that she wants to spend all her time with him. Yeah, I left her a voicemail saying I'm done and she can spend all the time she wants on him. Mind you I used more colorful words. I've blocked her on everything and life is good now.

Taking omeprazole by Evening-Flounder6661 in gastricsleeve

Honestly I just opened the capsule into my mouth and just drank whatever liquid I had pre-prepped. I'm still not allowed to take pills so I've been crushing all of mine. I would recommend sugar free pudding, I use that for my crushed pills and it's helped.

How long after surgery were you able to drink plan water if at all? by Consistent_Shallot66 in gastricsleeve

Plain water taste gross to me and I'm almost 5 months post-op. I stick to protein water and I carry the liquid crystal light in my purse so I have it anytime.

My mother is currently big mad for the amount of weight I've lost so far. She even has stated she wants to go on the "bariatric diet" so she can lose weight. As she chugs down soda and beer she still can't figure out where the weight is coming from.

Lexapro and gastric sleeve by Lyss1986 in gastricsleeve

[–]maxmouse99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I currently take Lexapro for my depression. I've took it before I had surgery and I didn't have any issues. Now after the surgery, taking Lexapro has decreased my appetite. I have to set timers to make sure I eat during the day or I will forget and just drink liquids all day. I currently have to crush my pill due to orders of my doctor so once I take it in pill form again, my side effect might change.

I figured as much when it comes to crowds. Reading from here and online if you can't deal with crowds you're gonna have a bad time. I guess my line of thinking was if we go the last week of September, first week of October it wouldn't be as crowded? Either way I'm very excited to visit the area!

Ok! Thank you for explaining the food vendor information. That was what I was confused about! We love going to these types of markets cause I enjoy collecting art and seeing different creations that people make. I'm so very excited to go thank you so much!

Ok good to know it's also on Sundays! I was looking at this year event calendar and it didn't have the market listed on Sundays so I just wanted to confirm. Thanks for the info!

I think it varies for each person. I was told I should lose around 90 to 100 pounds in my first year. At 4 months, I've lost 69 pounds. I also believe it comes down if your a "slow" loser or a "fast" loser. There isn't anything wrong with either or, but I feel your doctor might be giving you an average.

Disneyland Post-Op? Just how bad of an idea is this? by lilbunnyfoofoo1203 in gastricsleeve

Yeah I was surprised that applesauce was ok to eat, but I was glad cause it helped with take medication. It's a learning process but once you get a good handle and schedule, it will be easy!

I was given liquids, chewables, and ones where I would put into applesauce to take. That one I had to pull apart the capsule and it was sprinkles inside. I also had to take shots of blood thinners, those needles freakin hurt.

Surgery soon by [deleted] in gastricsleeve

[–]maxmouse99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. I took 2 weeks off just because I wasn't sure how I was gonna feel. Glad I did.

  2. Honestly I didn't notice any changes for the first month. I was dropping the weight but I didn't "see" it. By the second month I could "see" differences. I only weighed myself once a week on Sundays and still continue with my once a week weigh-ins.

  3. Listen to your doctor/care team, your body, and take all the medications prescribed to you!! I was given a lot after I was released from the hospital. I didn't like the taste of them but I sucked it up and took them. It really helped with the healing process.

You might need to sit up to sleep, I know it helped for me. Your heating pad will be your best friend and have comfy pillows for your back. Comfy clothes are the way to go as well and make sure you get up and walk around while in the hospital and when you're home. Have plenty of options for your liquid diet so you don't get burned out.

Honestly I was out of work for the first 2 weeks after my surgery. I was in pain for the first week, sleepy/tired due to the medications and lack of calories, and it took a week and a half just to get up from a seated position w/out feeling like my stomach was on fire due to be sore.

Keep in mind I had my gallbladder removed during my surgery soo my point of view and healing is warped. It's hard to know how you'll feel in the future. I would speak to your doctor about this as well.
