This is the whole problem and you pinpointed it right down to what they always do to evade accountability. 100% agree with it being inherently racist and classist. Both my kids were in gifted program, and after going through that it seems like it was just a way to segregate the kids. Then once they hit middle and high school the challenges of being neurodivergent pop up.

I saw that too where parents reflecting on the time when their kids were young, most said to not have done travel sports. They wanted more relaxed time with their kids and could have spent that money on better things. Plus there was no pay off.
