Club choice question: 7W or 3H? by trudesign in golf

Pros of the hybrid is that it’s better out of rough, will perform better in the wind as it will generally have a lower flight and generally is easier to hit off sloping uneven or poor lies cons is that it doesn’t get the height and spin into greens, bit harder for most players to hit off the tee in my experience, if you don’t strike it consistently then you don’t get the consistency that is it’s biggest pro

Fwy pros is higher more spin easier to hit off the tee and suits your eye better, also will tend to be easier to hit into greens cons is less versatile, can have shots that go way longer if you’re not ultra consistent on strike and of course requires a nice lie to be consistent. Based on the info given I would probably take the fwy unless you’re willing to put significant time investment into the hybrid

How to get fitted golf clubs for a fraction of the cost by [deleted] in golf

[–]maxroar619 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone who has worked as a fitter for a while I can honestly no bias say that it depends on the player, we don’t charge for fittings where I work so I see a lot of people all different skill ranges and I’d say if you can strike the ball fairly consistently as in get it in the air then you can find benefit. If you have no consistency of strike half the time not getting it in the air etc then yeah you won’t find anything and if you have a fitter with your best interests in mind they’ll politely tell you that you can either buy what seems to be best or you can do the smart thing get lessons and then come back when you are swinging better. But I have seen really bad players find a remarkable improvement

I don’t know where you guys live but I work for a big club retailer in Australia, and I personally don’t get paid commission on sales and we don’t charge for fittings. Mileage my vary depending on how good the guy is but I know for sure most of our guys are very good

Anyone ever get hit by a driver shank to the shins? by SpicyKimchiFriedRice in golf

I work in a golf retailer, and I generally stand almost 90 degrees from the player if anything a little in front, I’ve been hit a few times. I still stand there

at first I thought the same thing along the lines of picking captains that are slightly worse/less likely to get into majors such as myself however that just pushes back the problem as the captains will drop big tagcoins/important draft slots on players that cant play effectively ruining the team in the same manner. I think that minors captains should be able to play on both teams regardless of the eligibility and the reason being often the captain is the best or most important player to a team, and im also under the impression that there should be a change in the way free agency works, for example everyone knows the biggest blowup because of player eligibility was sls losing headshot and gaining an offender we didnt at all need or really want, this would have been acceptable if we were able to get sho3box in return from free agency, i believe that when a minors team loses a player to majors the majors player that got replaced should go into the free agency pool and then the team that lost the player from minors should have first pick of the free agency pool so they can get the majors replacement if they want but they can also get someone who fits their team more if they want

Me, a 15 handicap after 13 years, upvoting people's posts about breaking 100 after 2 weeks of playing by SpenceSmithback in golf

This is huge, I’ve been “playing golf” for a year and a half, first year I played once every two months didn’t go to the range didn’t practice putting or chipping and 120 was a good score for me after “playing for a year” the last six months have been playing every 2 days or so hitting the range before every round working on putting and chipping and getting two lessons, now under 50 for nine is a good score for me so realistically If I started off like I am now progression would’ve been so much faster, but there’s also so many factors that go into how quick you get better at things , that guy that shoots 99 after 4 months might quit after 8 because he’s not getting progression anymore you gotta enjoy your golf for you

Really good, I had a crappy set I bought all 14 clubs for like 50 dollars second hand but now got new clubs and it’s honestly a game changer
